Loving star wars is a curse and perhaps a mental illness of some kind

I can’t stop thinking about the reaction Cal has to killing Bode. The tiny little details of it all.

Cal shoots Bode. Bode falls back and gasps for air. Cal shoots again. Anger on his face and tension in his body.

The moment Bode falls silent, Cal realises just what he has done. He starts to lower the blaster and this look of utter horror starts to creep onto his face.

He didn’t need to take that second shot. Bode was dead anyway. Cal took that second shot to make sure he stayed dead. He took the shot out of anger, hated and hurt.

The way Cal drops his arm, then the blaster and then stumbles back as he realises just what he did and why he did it. The guilt starts to set in while Bode’s body is still warm.

Cal tries to convince himself that he did it to put Bode out of his misery. So that he would have a quick death instead a slow gasping one. That he did it as a last mercy to a man he had called his friend.

When Cal took that second shot it was the first time he killed someone out of pure rage instead of defence. He killed a gasping, defenceless man because of his anger.

He keeps the blaster. The echoes remind him of what he did.
