okay so 69 sts would work great but I’ll do 67 sts cast on because that’s not a meme funny number and you want to avoid those when you c

You are going to have to take my word for this because I can’t get my phone camera to focus in a way that would make me comfortable in terms of everyone’s privacy, but this looks amazing hung in the window. It’s a perfect length and I was not super precise about this, so I think luck and experience saved the project. The light comes through so prettily. I uh, I do not have a blocking board arrangement big enough to block this thing, but I’m sure I’ll figure something out.
Well, on the up side, I’ve still got about two and a half months to completely unfuck my life in all aspects! Should be fine.

Fell Swoop bag in linen! Exact same instructions, no changes except the substitution of linen thread for cotton yarn.
This is the Fell Swoop bag! It’s knit flat in one fell swoop, and it’s very fun to make. I am selling the pattern for it over on Ravelry, and you can use the (detailed) pattern to make your own!
The handy digital pattern includes all the information you need to knit the bag shown, and it’s a good, engaging project—by the time you’re seeing this, I probably will have knit it twice. The Fell Swoop bag has a pretty classic shape and holds plenty of things—I tested it out a little with cones of weaving yarn, which tend to be bulky and heavy; this isn’t as aesthetic as throwing as much nice round fluffy yarn in there as I can, but it’s a pretty realistic representation of how the bag works in real-life carrying-things situations. Imagine you have gone to the grocery store, and bought 5 cones of specialty weaving yarn, or something.
The main sample is knit in 3/2 cotton! It’s knit at a medium-dense gauge, but still has some give, like a market bag. I think this same pattern will also work well either in linen (strong, even if you end up using string/thread) or in plain wool (possibly felted for a firm fabric and shape), but the latter idea—it’s just too hot for that right now.
Watched a video where someone found a recording of local radio coverage of the Moon landing and it's so weird listening bc
now you only really see the moment of and don't realize it was an hours long protracted event with plenty of dead time to fill. At one point they just start listing off famous ships to waste time when nothing was happening
there were ads? They had to incorporate ad breaks? Not only that but actual, moon landing themed ads that segue in from the coverage. Hearing an ad that starts "the world is watching three men traveling on a mission - but every day, America's truckers travel the roads on a mission - feeding a nation..." in the exact tone of those modern commercials that are like "this SUPER BOWL, let's honor real heroes, our FIRST RESPONDERS"
Happy moon landing day
The video...
...and the uncut coverage
A rare bit of radio coverage of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Commercials and Station ID's intact.
My favorite moon landing anecdote:
Dad (who was a NASA engineer) bought a 25" color TV in summer 1969 just to watch the moon landing in style. Largest TV available at the time. Stupidly expensive.
Dad (who was a NASA engineer) was furious to learn the landing would be broadcast in black & white.

gonna be another hot day; planning to spend as much of it as possible working, but am afraid to list out everything I’m working on because then if I lose the plot on one or two of these things, I’ll think about that all the time.
So more vaguely and informally: weighing a bunch of scrap yarns! Also absolutely blazing through my last few cones of 3/2 cotton and that discontinued cotton flake, which feels great to be honest. The idea of finally clearing out all my color choices from the past decade and starting over with something more deliberate is indescribably appealing to me. Like it’s so good it almost feels soothing, or comforting, somehow.
I’d really rather be fishing.
