That blood definitely did the trick, and she feels the life swoop back into her. Somehow Katherine is still a little shaken. Being fed on as a vampire was something she never expected in all her five hundred years, and she was someone who had experienced it all. But Mikael definitely took her by surprise and now he was out in the open, probably feeding on other unsuspecting vampires. She had definitely seen enough if five hundred years, but a vampire feeding on other vampires was definitely out of the ordinary. Katherine had to make her number one priority staying alive again, which included getting the hell out of the area. With someone like that alive, it wasn’t good. “He fed on me,” she murmurs, squeezing her eyes shut as she flexes out her muscles. “The vampire I came here to wake up and kill Klaus fed on me.” Katherine finally moves, sitting up slightly but still leaning against Dan as she brushes the dirt off her pants. Her movements halt however, and instead she tentatively moves a hand up to her neck where she can feel the dried blood. Her face is taut with anger, the idea of having been a meal less than appealing to her.
He brings his gaze back to her when she speaks again, his eyes widening as she tells him what happens. A vampire feeding on vampires? Despite the face that he had only just learnt of the existence of vampires, werewolves and everything else, Dan knew that even that was completely new. Dan watches Katherine closely, underneath the anger she was showing, he knew that she was just as riled up. Not even she expected that, and to her Mikael was just another being she had to keep aware of. “A vampire-feeding vampire… does that mean we can get the hell out of here?” He deadpans, still looking down at her worriedly. He helps her sit up a little while still keeping a firm hold on her. His eyes drift down to her neck and he frowns at the sight, though she had already healed he could still see where he had bitten her. The thought of it only proved to anger him, but he knew that if someone could do that to Katherine, he was even more helpless than he already was. “You alright?” He asks her quietly, taking her hand from her neck and presses it against his lips softly.
“Obviously,” she quickly responds in a strained voice, giving Dan an annoyed glare. Katherine wasn’t about to waste any time in getting the hell out of this place. And more importantly, they weren’t about to go back to the city where Klaus was. That’s where Mikael was headed, and this time she wouldn’t be dumb enough to become his victim twice. She’d spent her whole life running, now it was time to start again. This time Dan would be forced into it too, but if it kept him alive he would just have to keep his mouth closed and suck it up. Once both Klaus and Mikael were finally gone, then everything could go back to normal. As normal as possible for a couple like Katherine and Dan. And as annoyed as she was at being the old man’s food source, Dan’s tenderness reminded her that he wasn’t the one she should have been taking it out on. “Vampires heal… I’m fine,” she insists, using her vampire speed to stand from the ground. Katherine grins down at him, despite how not fine she actually is.
Despite the gravity of the situation, Dan can't help but smirk at how quickly she grew annoyed with him. Definitely back to normal, he thought to himself. "How about Rome then?" He jokes lightly. He knew that what Mikael had did shook Katherine a lot more than she was letting on, and because he knew he wasn't physically able to handle anything that involved the supernatural, he always reverted back to what he knew best. Distraction. "... or maybe Paris? I've always wanted to go to Athens too." He drawls on, a smile playing at his lips as he watches to speed back to her feet. Slowly he brings himself back to his feet and stands in front of her. He can still see how shaken she was at the whole thing, no matter how hard she tried to hide it. It only dawns on him then at how close he came to losing her... again. Dan closes the distance between them and cups her face in his hands. "We can leave now."
