Street Rat and Falcon || Sam and Luke
Luke had learned to be a good actor. Playing on the sympathy he could get as a homeless kid could get him out of trouble or help him make it. Sometimes the quickest route to what he wanted was to make himself out to be more pathetic and helpless than he truly was. With any luck, this little trick would work on the man to make sure he wouldn’t be getting into any trouble.
“Needed it more than you,” he mumbled, just loud enough to be heard. His hand lowered a few inches and he shrunk as far back as he could against the wall to make himself look even smaller and harmless. “You’re really not going to call the cops? Promise?”
“No.” Sam wasn’t but he had to take the kid somewhere besides letting him off the leash to go rob even more people of their money and it was obvious that if anyone found out he had powers they’d send him off to some lab to get experimented on for government use. So where exactly could he take him? The only place he could think of that was suitable for the boy was the tower. Only he’s not so sure how the others would feel about him bringing in “strays”.
“I won’t call the cops but..what’s your name kid?” Sam shifts as he waits for an answer, guard down and posture open. He looks over the boy, noting how he’s trying ever so hard to come off as piteous as possible. Sam’s seen it more times than not to know when it’s staged, a little show to play on your heart strings. “You can drop the act now.”
