I could go without the upcoming homework and tests, but a part of me is excited to see some friendly faces – and new ones, too.
I mean, hey, that’s optimistic at least. I’m sure everyone could agree with you, if you’re able to go through all of the not-so-friendly faces, that is.
“It’s all I’ve seen on social media, and I don’t understand the problem. If people don’t want to go back to school, just skip Monday. Give yourself another day of freedom before the real school year starts.” Valerie said. “I mean, it’s not like you’d be missing out. We’ll basically be going over the syllabus in every class,” she added. “I’m highly considering it myself. I have no advice for the other nine months of your life you’re missing out on, though, sorry.”
“Look, I don’t know about you but I don’t feel like returning to school on Monday.” Zig said, letting out a sigh. “The last thing I want is to do is get judged by a bunch of rich people who think they are better than me.”
“There are worse things than going back to school,” Valerie said, attempting to avoid eye contact with Zig. “I mean, I know it sucks, but maybe they’ll surprise you. Maybe it won’t be so bad, but what do I know?” she asked.
Someone in my P.E. class looks just like SABRINA CARPENTER, but it’s actually just VALERIE HARROW. She is a [16] year old [GRADE 10] at Degrassi, and was known as the [DREAMER] of [RICHMOND SENIOR HIGH]. When I sat next to them they seemed [ADVENTUROUS] but people say they’re [RECKLESS]. Vendetta knows that [SHE WAS ACCEPTED INTO A PRESTIGIOUS PERFORMING ARTS SCHOOL, BUT WAS EXPELLED TWO MONTHS LATER] but isn’t aware that [HER PARENTS ARE BOTH IN JAIL, SO SHE LIVES WITH HER AUNT].(e, 17, cst)
Valerie Michaels didn’t live a privileged life. She wasn’t born into money. She didn’t ask for something and receive it. Valerie moved in with her mother’s youngest sister when she was ten years old. Her father was sentenced to prison for first degree murder, and her mother was named an accomplice and also sentenced. After the case was over and her parents were in jail, Valerie asked if she could change her last name to Harrow, which was her aunt’s surname. Even as a ten year old, Valerie was ashamed to be the daughter of her parents. Valerie’s aunt allowed it, and she went from Valerie Michaels to Valerie Harrow.
Valerie’s aunt never once complained about being the guardian (and later adoptive mother) of Valerie, even though Val saw how hard it was on her. Valerie is extremely observant, and even as a kid she watched. She saw how difficult it was for her aunt to go from being a normal twenty year old to taking care of a kid, but her aunt loved her all the same. She helped Valerie find her love of the fine arts, and when Valerie was twelve, she applied to an extremely prestigious performing arts high school. When she got her acceptance letter (and scholarship), she couldn’t believe it. There were tears in both her’s and her aunt’s eyes when she was dropped off in her dorm room three months later, only a week after Valerie’s thirteenth birthday. While at the performing arts high school, Valerie met many people that she connected with, more than she had connected with any other people before. At the school, Valerie fell in with a bad group of older students. They introduced the fourteen year old to drinking, smoking, and partying. After a random drug test found weed in her system, Valerie was expelled from the school.
When Valerie came back to her home, she was transferred to spend the rest of her Freshman year at Degrassi. Valerie had been discouraged. She had her chance, and she blew it. When she got back to reality, Valerie continued to work on her dreams, but at the same time, she took this as a chance to be a real teen. She never completely stopped the drinking and smoking, but she doesn’t make it the center of her life like she was on the path towards. Valerie focuses hard on her school work, being encouraged by wanting to become more than her parents. She wanted to be able to get into a good university, get a good job, and go on to make something of herself in life. However, with that in mind, she still has silent dreams of becoming a star one day.
Valerie is a friendly face at Degrassi, but she has a fire to her. She stands up for her beliefs, and she’s not afraid to cause a scene. Valerie definitely doesn’t think before she speaks (or does) and that can get her into some trouble. She can often overreact and can be dramatic at times. Valerie enjoys things such as movies, music, makeup and fashion, anime, and gaming. She has a natural talent as a musician. She prefers singing, and she can play drums, guitar, piano, and the violin. She would love to one day be a voice actor. She’s a good friend to have, because she’ll do anything to protect the people that she loves.
