Sleepless Dreams
āMmmmhm! That is very true! We are the busy-busy-busy type after all! Love is everywhere, and we have to run all around! Itās like weāre little jackrabbits or something, hopping to and fro!ā Furfur let out a laugh, clapping her hands together, her heart pounding at the very thought. Oh, love was simply so grand, who cares that she had to work all day and all night for it?
Of course, she didnāt quite expect Dlanor to understand passionate love- but surely she understood other kinds of love. The love of friends, the love of subordinates, the love of family, all different kinds that filtered into the everyday! True love was the best, but the Chief was still a kid. Maybe laterā¦
āHave we been successful, you ask?ā she suddenly exclaimed, jumping up into the air, āOh, we certainly have been! Zepar is out collecting love right now, and heās sure doing a good job! Iāve seen mostly melancholies, but the sting of love is a wonderful thing too! The aching of your heart shows youāre truly alive, after all!ā
The cheerful responses and excited movements briefly made the child wonder if this was the kind of sensation children felt when interacting with others their age. She recalled being gleefully mischievous for a while back when she and Will were still training, for whatever their skipping of lessons and chores was worth. With her halted growth, however, most of the friends she'd ever seen as 'her age' were now much older than herself. The memories and idle realization brought a smile to the child's face, coupled with the good news brought by the demon.
"I don't think that's something you hear often; someone enjoying the bitterness of something that's universally expected to be SWEET." And while she definitely did not fully understand romantic love, the angel had at least witnessed it on several occasions. It was by no means an appropriate base for passing judgement, but it served as a standpoint. "But I suppose the duality should be no surprise coming from both of YOU." Albeit far from the topics the golden eyed child considered her expertise, this kind of mundane chat was refreshing, if not engrossing.
Heaven was notoriously stiff. The angels, the archangels and the leaders of the Inquisition, tended to sit back and gather all the information they could get until they actually dispatched one of their officers. Staying back, being wary, not making a single move until they could assure their perfect victory. Efficient, butā¦so boring! How could you stand back and not want to spice up the story yourself? The Angels were in charge of the end, not of the entertainment! They were only good for snipping the rotten roots. How boringā¦
āVacations?ā She tried out the words on her tongue, sampling the flavor once. However, it was stillĀ unusual, no matter how many times she rolled the words around. A vacationā¦what was a vacation? Her inner dictionary told her it was a break for a holiday and recreation, but to a Witch- what was a vacation? What would she be running from? Work? The work that kept her memories at bay?Ā If she did take a break from something, would it distract herself from her past? For a Witch whose job it was to travel, what use woud traveling do?Ā
āIāve never heard of a Witch who took a vacation,ā she admitted, twisting a lock of hair around her fingers, āI wonder where I would goā¦ā
There was hardly a thing Dlanor could do to break the routine that ensnared her during working hours. Perhaps it was just the fact that she had come to understand that things wouldn't change, or maybe her sense of responsibility didn't allow her to break the protocols she had been taught to follow. One way or another, it seemed like some bizarre vicious cycle brought together by the horrible combination of a child-like mind and a job fit for a real adult.
A slow nod regarded the witch's inquiry. Surely the concept must seem foreign for a voyager, who constantly travels, but even that kind of role could be reversed for a pleasant change, right? The angel might not be on the best terms with the blue haired member of the senate, but these kind of inferences couldn't really require a close bond. In the end, it really couldn't be more than casual conversation. "You mentioned finding the new fragments to be INTERESTING. Perhaps further exploration could lead you to individuals you could... sympathize WITH."
From what she gathered, it probably wasn't much about the kind of fragment to visit as much as the pieces and masters of each. The idea was definitely uncomfortable to bring up, the memories of what took place in Rokkenjima still not forgotten, but those things would keep happening right? The sea of fragments was vast enough for such an occurrence to have decent probabilities of occurring again.

Well, wasn't this a face the young angel definitely did not expect to see. At the very least, not without a particular witch accompanying her, that is. It was rare to see Lambdadelta without Bernkastel nearby, especially in a place as 'boring' as Heaven and the rest of the higher planes. Could it be that the Witch of Certainty required the services from someone in the Great Court? Part of her wished that wasn't the case after the last experience she had from working alone with the blonde. For such a renowned witch, she was definitely more keen on keeping herself entertained than focusing on tasks; not that Dlanor was any better when it came to paperwork.
"Greetings, Lady Lambdadelta, is there anything you REQUIRE?"
Dlanorās speech quirk made the corners of Erikaās lips twitch upward. She really hadnāt changed much.
āIāve been fine. Master hasnāt been very happy with me, and itās been rather quiet around here, but itās been alright. At least Battler and Beatrice are off in their cat box, so they arenāt stinking things up with their lovey-dovey hearts everywhere.ā
The light tug at the corner of the detective's lips did not pass unnoticed, but the child decided it was best not to comment on it. She, herself, felt her spirits rise by seeing her friend after a long time, so there couldn't be anything wrong with Erika expressing herself in such a simple manner.
"She HASN'T? Lady Bernkastel is the type of person that's hard to please, I SUPPOSE." If she hadn't learned that from the short time she was her piece then she'd need only take the time to listen to chats about the Senate around the Great Court. Still, the other's last remark caused the angel to tilt her head to the side, if only slightly. "That is harsh, I do not think they have flooded the mansion with HEARTS." That was probably too much of a literal take on the witch's statement, but for someone that wasn't remotely bothered by the constant displays of affection, like herself, it seemed out of proportion. "Perhaps you could still try to pay them a VISIT? I'm sure Lord Battler would enjoy partaking in a short game with you if you're ever BORED."

The sight of the familiar long red hair and clear eyes was not one that Dlanor expected to come across again. Humans did not often cross paths with inhabitants of the Meta realms on more than a few specific occasions, but Ange had proved to be an exception due to her involvement with Bernkastel and her own rank as a witch. How curious, and yet pleasant, to encounter her once more.
Frankly speaking, the fact that she had not thanked the Witch of Resurrection for her aid in bringing her and her companions back from the void of non-existence had bothered her for quite a while. But there was nothing to be done; she could not manifest herself infront of humans. "Miss Ange, what a pleasant surprise to see you AGAIN."

Well, this was a piece she hadn't seen in a long time! In fact, she'd only ever met this particular furniture twice, and even then their interaction had not been meaningful in any sense. And while it might be unlike her, Dlanor felt strangely comfortable with this meeting. It probably had something to do with the lion's overall friendly and perhaps shy disposition.

āUu! Uu! Uu! So many people for Maria!ā The girl gave a happy bounce as she waved happily. āUu! Hello!ā
The apprentice's cheerful greeting wasn't one Dlanor was particularly used to, but it was far from being unpleasant. Maybe it was the bits of uncertainty that remained due to the events that took place during the 6th game, but the young piece did not seem at all bothered or upset by her presence. Perhaps it was all for the best if the witch apprentice didn't recall the incident or wished to ignore it.
"Greetings, miss Maria, I am happy to see you AGAIN."
āHello there, Dlanor. How are you?ā
Even now, Dlanor still felt a loss as to why or how she had managed to remain good friends with Erika after everything that happened in the last time. A thought that had turned into fleeting contemplation as of late.
"Greetings, miss Erika, it's been a while since I last saw YOU." And she wouldn't complain, she was quite content to see her friend once more. "I have been alright, although rather BUSY. What about you, have you been WELL?"
How curious. This place was no patchwork Fragment, but the people inside it were. Aside from that, the land seemed dead, and the people gave it life. At least, that is what she gathered from the Angelās speech.
āYouād be quite surprised.ā The very thought just made her irritated, but she had to admit, it sure was a way in curing her endless boredom. Being a member of the Senate was one thing, but all the work it came with was another. Ah, it was so boring, but the interesting things that it produced on its off-time was worth it. Sometimes enduring horrific tea parties with the other Witches was endurable if it meant that she could learn something new that would satiate her boredom for just a few seconds.
āI recently discovered a new cluster of Fragments that hadnāt been marked on the Senateās charts before. It was a curious group, with their own rules mimicking the rules of the chessboard, but with all the more subtlety. A few of your kind was gathered there as well, so Iām sure you knew about it. Then there were a few delightfully macabre Fragments that popped out of nowhere. Horrific and wonderful, enough to cure my boredom for about two minutes.ā She let out a sigh, shrugging her shoulders, āItās a lot of work, but itās better than a vacation. At least you Angels donāt have to deal with corrosive ennui.ā
And indeed Dlanor would be. The child had little experience with constantly traveling through fragments, whatnot with her subordinates dealing with most investigations and her staying back in the office to simply assign their dispatchment. "Is that SO?" Still, she sometimes she wonder what it'd be like to spend the vast majority of her time constantly moving and doing things without much of a set routine or pattern. It was always either strangely entertaining or, dare she think it, unsettling or even scary. This was, however, Dlanor's child-like mentality at work, so perhaps the stability was something she needed. The paperwork... not so much.
The Witch of Miracles was regarded with a slight tilt of the lavender's head as he mentioned some of her kin being part of this new group of fragments. Surely other angels lived outside of the most known part of Heaven, but the child always thought it'd be logical for the Senate to be aware of their location. Apparently not. Making assumptions outside mystery game boards was not the best idea, it seemed. "Yes, we DON'T. But I suppose it is as bad as mountains of paperwork for US." Such was probably the greatest extent to which Dlanor could express humor without her closest friends around.
"Perhaps if you ever find an interesting enough Fragment, you might be able to take vacations, Lady Bernkastel." Then again, that's what had happened back with Beatrice's board wasn't it? Maybe it would be sensible not to wish for such a thing to repeat itself.
[I know I had a few indie threads that were left pending back when this was a group account, so if you'd like to continue those or drop them and start anew please let me know!]
Soā¦. If Gaap has to bend this low just to be close to Dlanorās heightā¦
How tall are you really, baby?
