thanks !! i’m not exactly sure what the ‘struggles with writing’ part connotes but i’ll just assume it’s a writer’s block type thing ; feel free to inbox me again if this isn’t what you wanted !

- if he sees you getting frustrated he’ll distract you a bit to get your mind away from what you’re writing, so you’ll look back at it with a fresher viewpoint

- alex will also take you on walks if you’re up for it ! especially during the fall

- he definitely knows what writer’s block feels like, so he’ll try to give you the best advice he can

- he’s really not the best at cooking, but he can manage. if you’re busy writing he’ll take care of dinner and bring it to you

Help You Swim

When you found out you were to be study partners with Lafayette, your heart sank into your stomach. 

The last thing you wanted to do was carry one of the troublemakers that sat in the back of the room through a project; him, Laurens, Hamilton, and Mulligan spent their days back there being rowdy and throwing balled up papers at the front of the room. You didn’t even know which one he was. You were completely new to this hellish school and hated everything about it.

But now, as you picked out who Lafayette actually was, he looked over at you as his friends hooted and hollered like the immature boys you knew thought they were. You thought to yourself; Maybe this won’t be that horrible. 

Lafayette knew you were new to the school and usually he would’ve offered at least a little help to his partner and just let them carry him. But the way you looked like a deer in headlights when his name was called after yours made him feel a little guilty and he decided in that instant that he was going to actually help you out. He’d introduce you to his friends, and you two could study together, but WOW, look at those eyes-

STOP, he thought to himself abruptly. The train of thought continued in the back of his head but he drowned it out as he stood up to move over to your desk where you sat alone. He leaned his hand on the empty space next to you and ignored the chatter of his friends as they were paired up with each other. 

“I’m Marquis de Lafayette, but my friends just call me Lafayette.” He gave what he hoped was a welcoming smile and stuck out his other hand for a ginger handshake.

When you picked out his French accent, you figured he was a transfer student. He was. You stared at him for a second when he stretched his hand towards you as if you expected him to withdraw it and laugh at you. You hesitantly shook his hand; his hand was warm and lightly calloused.

You averted your gaze from his face, unwilling to stare. “I’m, uh. (Y/N).” You tried to smile back but it was sheepish. You were clearly overwhelmed.

He sat himself down in the chair, slithering the backpack from his shoulders where it hit the floor with a clunk that made you jump a bit. You knew that he noticed this. 

“Those are my friends back there,” he said smoothly, gesturing to each boy as he named them. “That’s Alexander, John, and Hercules. They’re knuckleheads, don’t mind them.” He made sure to say the insult loud so they’d hear, but he gave a small chuckle and it was clear the word was said in the most affectionate way possible.

“Oh.” Fuck, say something else, you told yourself with a cringe. “That’s cool, I get it.”

“If you want, you can sit with us in the cafeteria and we can go over this rubric. I’ll show you around the school,” he offered. The way he looked at you made you train your eyes back on your fingertips as you tapped them on the tabletop.

“..Yeah, that’d be cool. Thank you.”

Your sheepishness and quietness was endearing to Lafayette. He thought you were adorable and this time he couldn’t stop himself from staring at you a little bit; he flushed slightly, thankful you weren’t looking at his face anymore.

After class, he waited for you outside the door and walked alongside you. Alex, John, and Herc had already gone ahead to lunch. “The cafeteria’s just over here. That’s the math wing, we were just in the literature wing, fine arts...” He was chattering because he was nervous, but you didn’t seem to notice. 

“This school is too big,” you huffed nervously. 

If he was with his friends Lafayette would’ve made an obscene joke at that remark they all would’ve laughed at, but he held back. “You’ll figure it out soon, I’m sure. There’s the caf.” He brushed his hand against your shoulder to get your attention and pointed towards the cafeteria. 

When you sat down with him, his friends gave him a look that you tried to ignore. Lafayette jerkily waved a hand to dismiss them and sat down next to you. “This is (Y/N), my partner.. for the project. She’s my project partner. (Y/N), this is Alex, John, Herc...”

“Oh, uh. Hey,” you muttered awkwardly. Lafayette looked back from his friends to you, eyes lingering on your face for a split second before tearing them away. 

The lunch went how you would expect it to go, the boys flicking peas at each other and being rowdy. Things got a little dicey when John stuck out his boot to trip one of their other friends but you ignored the following argument and talked with Lafayette. It turned out he was taking the same baking class as you, he was a French transfer student as you expected, and you were in the same algebra.

You, Lafayette and his friends started to actually get along. Your sheepish and anxiety-formed persona slowly burned away as they helped you out of your shell and you sat with them in the back of the classroom. You helped keep them from disrupting the class for the next week or so, balancing them out perfectly.

In the meantime, Lafayette stole glances at you every chance he got. Ever since you started hanging out with him and his friends he got to see your real personality and liked you more and more every day. 

One day, as he examined the curve of your lips and the color of your eyes from across the room for the fifth time that day, he realized something. He was in love. Head over heels. Shit.

His friends, of course, had known that he would fall in love with you since the first time you met, and as they saw realization dawn on his face, they swatted at his arm and grinned at him. Lafayette snapped out of his trance and looked over at them. “What-??”

“C’mon, man. What’re you tryin’ to hide? We can see the way you look at (Y/N),” John urged with a smile, nudging Lafayette’s arm. 

“Yeah, Laf. What are you waiting for?” Hercules teased.

Lafayette pondered for a second. “I’m not waiting for anything,” he mumbled with a shrug. 

“Then go for it!” Alex exclaimed.

“Maybe I will.”

- aaron is such a good listener

- he’ll put his head on his hands and could listen to you talk for hours (he’s had good practice with alexander)

- he makes jokes about how you and alex shouldn’t ever meet because you’ll just talk constantly to each other and leave him behind

- if you ever need to vent or rant he’ll get some tea for both of you and he’ll listen for as long as you need him to

- he’s not really a phone call guy but he’ll put up with it for you tbh 

- he’ll nod or interject with “ooh”s and “ah”s a lot to make sure you know that he’s listening

- he sleeps like a rock so sometimes if it’s late at night he’ll just . fuckin fall asleep while you’re telling a story

Can i request headcannons with Herc and a clumsy s/o?

of course !

- hercules puts his sewing things on the high shelves just in case

- every now and then he’ll put blanket padding on the floor as a joke and thinks it’s the funniest thing ever

- he’s the best person to have around if you’re clumsy, honestly. when you trip over something he’ll catch you in like 0.2 seconds 

- he’s never upset when you break things, just worried about whether you’re okay or not

- if you’re too short to reach the cabinets, he absolutely refuses to let you climb on chairs or anything and will get it for you so you don’t fall down

- he thinks you’re rlly fragile and small and considers you way more clumsy than you actually are, so he takes like 5,000 precautions 

- when you’re drunk he’ll always have an arm around you to make sure you don’t fall down 

- he’ll always drive you to the hospital if you get hurt bad enough 10/10 best boy

thomas lives on little to no sleep as well and he’s almost given up trying to coax you into napping with him, so the best he can do is make you coffee and wait until you fall asleep on the couch. he would carry you to your bed so you’d be comfortable as well because he knows how it feels to be completely exhausted.

when you sing, he’s completely captivated. he probably tells james all about how good you are. most of the time he won’t come out of hiding because he doesn’t want to upset you but he thinks your voice is beautiful and tries to encourage your self esteem every now and then. since he’s so headstrong and bold, it doesn’t always come out as sweet as he wants it to, but he tries his best.

when you’re writing he’ll bring you store-bought snacks (he’s awful at baking and constantly starts kitchen fires) and drinks to make sure you’re doing okay and reminds you to take breaks and things because he’s overworked himself many times before and it’s not that pleasant.

Cemetery Drive

“Has anyone seen her!? I thought you guys were keeping an eye on her!”“We were. She just-”“Just what!?”“Just went to visit the grave. We offered to go with her, but she decided she wanted to go on her own. For some peace I guess, don’t really blame her.”

Alexander looked about ready to explode. He loved his friends to the moon and back but they could be such knuckleheads sometimes and he directly asked them to look after you. What did they do? They got plastered and lost you.

Face flushed cherry with rage, Alex snatched his jacket up off the chair in a stiff movement and started off while he yanked it on. “I’m going to go find her,” he muttered tersely and none of the guys had the guts to say anything else after that.

“(Y/N)? Are- Are you still here??” he shouted, voice breaking every now and then from yelling at the top of his lungs. He loved you and he didn’t want you to do anything rash, and the thought that he might not be able to prevent it tore at his heartstrings. Dread floated about and settled in his lower belly in the split second that you didn’t answer back… until he heard you.

“I’m here,” you called shakily. Your own voice cracked and broke but it was because you’d been crying; the knees of your white jeans were stained with dirt after kneeling on the ground in front of the grave. You looked at them bitterly and more tears streamed down your face.

Alex rushed towards you and fell to his knees next to you, not caring about how dirty he got. In an instant he was hugging you, arms wrapped around your shoulders and a hand patting your hair in a mixture of desperate relief and the need to comfort you.

When your small hiccups and stifled sobs slowed down, he gently released you and pressed a gentle kiss to your temple. His own eyes were slightly red-rimmed because he absolutely loathed seeing you so upset, and he felt your pain as if it was his own.

“Don’t cry, don’t cry, it’s okay… I’m here. It’ll be okay.”
