2014 in Bad #TimesNOWHashtags
Probably a day late, but here we go anyway...
I think the biggest cross-media trend from last year (and rather obvious too), would be the rise and rise of what is today known as 'hashtag or #' journalism. News channels have used it rather well -- to firstly engage with their social media-savvy (mainly Twitter) viewership and importantly, use it as a medium to slyly pass off their opinions.
The year began rather peacefully with just the #BreakingNow and a couple of stray hashtags here and there. But as we went along, it clearly spiralled out of control.
Here's a 2014 year in review, with (almost all*) the terrible Twitter hashtags, used by the @timesnow twitter handle.
