Oceans make up over 70 percent of our planet, yet only 1 percent of them are Marine Protected Areas, Lofgren says. âWe are going to take a portion of every dollar spent at Bamboo Sushi, and work with the Nature Conservancy, WWF, Monterey Bay Aquarium⌠[and others] to buy those areas of ocean, turning them into âfish banksâ for research.â And eventually breeding.

TW Paper Dispatch: when the presses go down
Thursday, June 30th Leave house: 4:15AM Paper Drop Point: As I pulled up, a newspaper truck was pulling away (using the papers are dropped around 2:30.) I checked my stacks & realized I only had 2 out of my 3 sections. The last load of papers showed up around 5 AM. THEN I had to fold the 1st half od my route, Temp. 80F & Muggy Wind: v.light Start time: 5:45 Obversations: I hated running late, but there wasn't much I could do about the presses being down. Also, I was jonseing for a Diet Coke so bad...apparently I need some caffiene to fold very fast; felt like it took ForEver to fold. I was pretty cranky by the time I got done. Finish time: 7:15

Wednesday, June 28th Leave house: 3:58 AM Temp. 78F Winds: breezy Paper folding- ran out of small sacks, had to get another batch from my patient, if sleepy, DM. Start time: 4:45 Observations: damn porches; only hit probably 5 in 10 today. Finish time: 6:10AM Getting closer to the recommended 6AM delivery time!

Other: Running a little bit late- I folded the papers for half my route, took off for the Wedgewood neighborhood, as I have a customer who needs his paper by 5.
Start time: 4:45 AM
Observations: Slinging papers isn't really that difficult, so long as you only have to get them on the driveway. Unfortunately, for me, a lot of my customers have requested that their papers be placed certain places on the property- sometimes 'under the carport' or 'by the garage door' but most often just a notation: "porch".
So far, I'm not very good at hitting porches, from the car. Last week, I only hit 1 in 10 porches from the car and got super frustruated when I'd have to get out of the car and retrieve papers from bushes or flower beds, every. freaking. time.
Today though, I think I probably hit 7 or 8 of 10- partly because there's certain houses, I don't even try to throw from the car. Others, I did actually hit from the car- and that felt great.
The route definitely goes faster when I'm not having to get out of the car every other house.
End time: 6:20 AM
Dispatches from a Midtown Tulsa World Paper Route
Monday, June 27th 3:55 AM- exit house, head to paper drop zone. It is my first day to fold all my papers & deliver my whole route. By myself (previous week was spent training & throwing half the route). Tempeture: 86F Winds: GUSTY Other: the smell of rain is in the air, but no precipitation. Start time: 4:35 Observations: My first stop is the local gas company's office; they get a paper M-F. I pull up, hop out of my Mini, and fling the paper towards the front doors. The wind is gusting & the paper is so light, that it bounces off the railing, and lands on the far side of a the well-kept flower bed. With a sigh, I pick through the striped grasses and brown mulch to retrieve the paper and toss it up by the double front doors. As I mince my way back to the car, I think, "not an auspicious beginning" and say aloud, to convince myself otherwise, "Today can only get better." End time: 6:15AM

I NEED a black maxi dress. For summer awesomeness.
I have this thing about shopping. I don't do a lot of it, but when I get in my head that I need something for this season, I get kind of obsessive about finding the thing that I am picturing in my head.
For example, when I was in HS, in the late 90s, I decided one fall that I needed a brown, A-line dress, the kind that buttoned all the way down, kinda looked like a vest that grew? Yeah.
I drug my poor mother through the entire mall- trying on dozen of options, until, I found the dress of my imagination...in good ol JCPenny, which I have taken as a lesson- ALWAYS check JCP, for it will have what you need.

SO: I'm on a quest today to find a killer black maxi for LESS than $70.

Since we have a new kitchen, I am a SUCKER for all things kitcheny and nifty.
This bull-shaped knife and book holder is excellent.
What is not excellent is 'price' is 'please inquire' which leads me to believe it must be SOUPER EXPENSIVE Y'ALL.
