BRIDGERTON | S03E07
hi
@norgodly : the truth has a way of rearing its ugly head.
standing by the window of their shared sitting room, the golden light of the late afternoon casts a warm glow over kate. warmer than the atmosphere in the room. craning her head to face edwina, silence reigns as the eldest sharma sister observes the younger's delicate features— sadness and resolve written across them. for a moment, it feels as if kate's aching heart shatters into a million pieces; the weight of their situation too much to bear. the tangled web of emotions and love that had managed to ensnare them both. anthony bridgerton— the man who had come between the two sisters, looming large in both their thoughts, a constant presence even in his absence. "yes," she finally breaks her silence, voice soft but remaining steady. "the truth does have a way of making itself known, no matter how much we might wish to hide from it."
moving closer to edwina, her eyes search her sister's for a hint of understanding— coming up short in the process. "but the truth, however painful, can also be a path to clarity. it forces us to confront our deepest fears and desires." in doing so, it brings people closer to their true selves. (and, in this moment, kate feels like an awful person and horrible sister. perhaps— she is.) taking edwina's hands into her own, kate squeezes them gently. a test of sorts. "i never wanted to hurt you, bon. my feelings for anthony, and his for me— they were something neither of us anticipated." but neither of them can change what has transpired; there is no eraser for time. warm tears threaten the corners of hickory irises, digits brought up to dab at the flesh. "i must face this truth, with honesty and love. no matter what happens, you are my sister, and i love you more than anything. i will never see that man again if it means maintaining your happiness." though her voice wavers as the words leave her mouth, kate's determination doesn't falter. there's hope that their bond, no matter how strained, could withstand any trial. even a trial of this magnitude.
and now, there's only the consequences left to face.
@rauther : some cannot help being heroes.
her posture is as impeccable as her sharp wit— as the grand ballroom of the danbury estate was alive with the chatter of the ton, kate's focus was fixed solely on feyd-rautha. she, an anomaly in this world of glamorous splendor, finds refuge in the second anomaly in the room. (albeit, a darker-seeming anomaly compared to her societal pariah mantle.) meeting his gaze, unflinching, she nods once. "indeed, my lord." her tone remains cool and calculated, yet carrying an undercurrent of challenge. "but true heroism is not merely a matter of circumstance or destiny. it is a choice— a deliberate act of courage and integrity, even when the odds are insurmountable." taking a step closer to the male, her gown rustles softly against the polished floor, the light shimmering the intricate embroidery adorning it. "are heroes defined by their abilities or triumphs? or rather, by the strength of their character? the purity of their intentions?" it's in the darkest of times that true heroes emerge— those who stand firm not because they are compelled to, but because they rather chose to.
chin lifting slightly, a gesture of defiance and her unwavering confidence, she cocks an eyebrow. "so, lord harkonnen, do you believe yourself to be a hero by choice or by circumstance?"
what chess piece represents you?
you are a white rook. as a piece that can move inwards and outwards, you're a master of self-reflection. you know what needs to be done and when to do it. you're a protector, and would willingly take someone's place in danger in a heartbeat because you know you can handle the pressure. but even castle walls crumble. for all your chivalry and fortitude, everything must come to an end. will you be there to see the final stages of the war? or will you have already been discarded in the battle?

@irulean : i do not care what lady whistledown writes about me.
"it is a pity, your grace, that lady whistledown's words seem to have found a way to reach even the esteemed corners of royalty." clad in a resplendent gown that echoes sophistication and grace, kate regards the princess with a serene smile, her voice carrying the honeyed tones of genuine interest. "though, i must say, her observations on loveless marriages are often as sharp as they are astute." with a subtle tilt of her head, the viscountess' gaze softened, a silent acknowledgment of the princess' unspoken burdens. one of many, kate can gather by the princess' reaction. always a princess, never an empress. "one cannot help but feel sympathy for those ensnared in such arrangements. lady whistledown's recent musings on your union did not escape notice." a painted portrait of duty and obligation, devoid of the warmth and compassion that should accompany such bonds. a reminder that even in the grandeur of royalty, the heart could remain untouched. "yet, amidst the whispers, i hope you find solace. if you have not already." as lady whistledown was damning enough to share— the emperor had found his solace through the love of another.
@shirelike : do you not wish to greet me?
her gaze hardens as kate locks eyes with the eldest bridgerton son, his question slicing through the tension like a sharpened blade. though a source of comfort, his presence ignites a fire within her— of vexation, of furor. everything that makes an internal clock tick. "do i not wish to greet you?" she echoes, her voice laced with icy disdain. "what greeting is there for a man who has made it his mission to antagonize and undermine me at every turn?" her words are sharp, each syllable held as evidence to the simmering animosity that had come to define their relationship. where others may expect civility, none is due— there's always more to what meets the eye, though. the eldest sharma daughter also refuses to allow him to witness the effect his presence has on her; the way his mere proximity stirs emotions she had long sought to suppress. for her family, for edwina, for herself.
"tell me, my lord— viscount bridgerton, how would you like me to greet you?"
