I wake up with a groan as my ringtone blares through my silent bedroom. I squint my eyes as the bright screen light illuminates through the darkness. Andy, my best friend's name, pops up on the screen. I glance in the corner screen for the time. 3am.
I hurriedly pick up the phone knowing he would never call this late unless it was urgent.
"Hello?" I speak and I hear him take a deep breath.
"She left." Is the only words he utters before gut wrenching sobs escape through the line.
I bite my lip, uncertain what to say, instead opting to give him time to calm down before furthering our conversation. It takes a few minutes before his sobs quiet down to whimpers.
"Do you need me to come over?" I bite my lip.
"Yes, please." He sobs again. "Can you stay on the phone with me until you get here?"
"Of course." I immediately begin gathering my things, not speaking any more. It's best to let him talk when he's ready.
I stay on the line with him the entire drive, only hanging up when I reach his front door. I use the spare key he gave me and hurriedly lock the door, bolting upstairs to his bedroom. As soon as I open the door I find him slouched on the floor, back against his bed, a bottle of half consumed bourbon in his hand. He glances at me with bloodshot eyes before downing a huge gulp. I sigh before tossing my jacket to the side, slouching down next to him. I grab the drink in his hand before taking a giant gulp myself. We sit in silence for a moment before I turn to him and place a comforting hand on his knee.
"What happened?" I question and he shrugs.
"She thinks I'm cheating." My eyes widen at his words. Why would she ever think that? Andy worships the ground she walks on.
"That's ridiculous." I pipe up.
"That's what I told her, but she didn't believe me." He takes another heavy sip.
"I am so sorry." I speak. "Maybe she just needs time to cool down."
"It didn't seem like it." He sniffs before offering me another sip of bourbon which I immediately chug.
One bottle turns to two turns to three. I don't usually drink but I could sense Andy needs someone to get drunk with him and I could never say no to him. I can barely keeps my eyes open as he starts to chug down our fourth bottle, but I keep pushing through.
"You know, she thought I was cheating with you." He drunkenly confesses and I gasp.
"Why would she think that?"
"She found out about how we used to hook up from time to time."
"That was years ago." I defend. Before Andy even met Juliet, he and I had a friends with benefits relationship going on. It was very cliché considering I did the one thing you're not supposed to do - I caught feelings for him. I debated whether to confess my feelings or not, but the decision was made for me. Andy met Juliet shortly after and immediately became infatuated with her. I hoped it was just a fling, but I gave up hope the night of their wedding.
"She doesn't seem to think it ended." He carelessly shrugs before gulping down the last bit of bourbon.
He finally looks me in the eye for the first time since I arrived, his gaze sends goosebumps down my spine. He humorlessly chuckles.
"I gave her everything and she thinks I'm a cheater." He stands up and stumbles. "I need something else to drink."
I want to tell him to stop, but I cannot find it in my heart to stop him in his fragile state. He returns with a bottle of tequila and two shot glasses, a wide smile on his face. He slouches down again and starts to pour two shots, the glasses filled to the brim. He hands me a glass and raises his in the air.
"Cheers." He speaks before downing it in one gulp.
I follow his lead and wince at the taste. I have never liked the taste. He wastes no time in pouring another round, and continuous more rounds. I close my eyes and lean my head back as the alcohol takes its effect.
"I should have known something was off when she never wanted to have sex anymore." Andy blurts out before downing another shot.
"When did that start happening?" I down my own.
"About two months ago." My eyes turn round.
"You haven't had sex in two months?" I scoff with a giggle. "No wonder you've been miserable lately."
He playfully punches my arm with the tiniest of smiles.
"As if you get a lot of action." He retorts.
"I get a lot of action, thank you very much."
"Please, you never even look at guys."
"You never notice, but last week I hooked up with that guy at the bar." I state. "The one that gave me his number at your party."
He gazes at me as if I confessed to a murder.
"The creepy dude?"
"He wasn't creepy." I chuckle and shove him. "We met up a few nights ago."
He remains silent.
"The sex was awful though." That makes him chuckle.
"Not everyone can be gifted at that." He speaks. "I'm fortunate that I am."
I roll my eyes at his cocky smirk. I wanted to make a joke, but my mind had other plans.
"Prove it." He gazes at me with raised brows. "Prove how good you are at sex." My drunken mind speaks for me again.
He seems to debate my words before his smirk returned.
"Fine." He catches me off guard as he grabs my hips and hoists me up to straddle his waist. I gaze at him.
He leans forward and hungrily attaches his lips to mine. I freeze at first but my drunken inhibitions take over and I return the heated kiss. I wrap my arms around his neck as he cups my head in his hands to bring us even closer. I eventually pull away for air and take deep breaths, but he wastes no time by attaching his lips to my neck eliciting a moan from me. I arch my neck back to grant him more access and he grips my hips. I grasp his head and pull his head back up to attach our lips together again. I gently slide my hands down his chest until I reach the edge of his shirt, lifting it up to caress his warm skin. He pulls out of the kiss and hastily lifts his shirt off and tosses it to the side before reaching for my top. He yanks it off and immediately places kisses down my chest and I instinctively arch into him. He grips my hips even tighter and I wince, but he makes no attempt to release his grip. I close my eyes as his lips return to my neck knowing that this is only the start of a pleasurable night.

I wake up to the sun on my face and an arm securely wrapped around my waist. I gaze at the familiar tattoos littering the skin and last night event's come fading back to me. I sigh knowing how awkward it's going to be when Andy wakes up and I immediately dread the conversation that is going to take place. I mentally kick myself for falling right back into his spell. His phone begins to ring and he groans, his arm twitches. I close my eyes and pretend to be asleep as he removes his hold around my and reaches for the phone.
"Hello." His groggy morning voice speaks. I can hear chatter on the other end before he hurriedly replies with a sure before hanging up.
I pretend to still be asleep, but he hurriedly shakes me awake.
"Tessa, you need to get up." He speaks and I gaze at him over my shoulder.
"What's going on?" I question, not anticipating his reply.
"Juliet is on her way."
