VERSE: FAIRY TAIL.

a demon. one born to her state long before zeref created his own demons. yui shizuka is considered a gorgon. a woman who resides in solitude in the ruins of an old temple, where she is worshipped by a neighbouring village that simply calls her the lamia. she is considered dangerous yet a revered creature, thought to bring peace and safety to the little village below the temple and its mountain. more creature than woman, though she is still considered docile until her domain is interfered without permission. 

before she was born, her mother was cursed to only bare monstrous looking children. this curse is of unknown origin but believed to have been placed there by a mage who practiced dark magic. the reasoning is unknown.

similar to her main verse, she has a venomous bite along with many snake-like attributes to her appearance. more info about that is here.

her nickname was given to her by the villagers long ago and additionally has connections to the guild lamia scale. some time before the main events, a member of lamia scale was given the task to destroy her but was unsuccessful. however, they did injure yui and obtained a number of her scales, which was used to say that the beast was killed.

because of the previous dot point, yui has a scale along her reptilian body that is damaged with a handful of scales missing.

    heroic deeds whisper of heroic hearts  .  society has always been drawn to them  ,  admiring those with often divine virtue  .  that was the old world  ,  a time before quirks  .  yet  ,  even today people still glanced back to the days of old  .  often comparisons made between modern heroes and ancient ones  ;  the cry of achilles  !  the love of perseus  !  the strength of hercules  !  yui often made these comparisons herself  ,  watching others and learning what defines them  .  before her stood a boy akin to patroclus  ;  a figure of kindness and enlighten wit  .

    ❛  you better or i’ll hunt you down myself  .  ❜  gentle chuckle along with playful threat  ,  a rare shine in her eye  .  though  ,  at his question  ,  it vanished  .  a tragic tale for any hero  .  countless legacies of bravery scorned the earth  ,  empires and bones lay as the remnants of the past  .  of their tragic ends  ,  their cursed lives of heroism met only with such a ending  .  she pondered on his question for a moment  ,  recalling various legends for a conclusion to assist in her answer  .  ❛  that's the sad truth of any great hero  ;  they’re doomed a tragic ending no matter how loved or respected they are  .  tragedy is in their blood  .  ❜  not exactly what she should be telling someone training to be a hero but he was curious  .  ❛  the greeks adored them but you have to remember that countless heroes were both god and man  ,  neither one or the other  .  their stories often were fuelled with heroics that men could only dream of  ,  something that only gods could do  .  maybe they enjoyed tragedies so much is because it reminded them that their heroes were more human than god  ,  a way to connect to them  .  but yes  ,  the greeks adored them  ,  even today in modern society we adore the tragic hero  .  

    ❛  homer actually says something about it  ;  any moment might be our last  .  everything is more beautiful because we're doomed  .  you will never be lovelier than you are now  .  we will never be here again  .  it’s all about leaving behind a legacy that’ll be remembered  .  ❜

QUIRK: SNAKE.

a mutation quirk. probably the most notable of her family, where her appearance holds a number of snake-like features including: legs replaced with a tail, forked tongue, cool skin, slit pupils, and fangs. 

based on the Gloydius blomhoffii, or Japanese pit viper or mamushi.

she has a venomous bite, though not every bite she gives can be dangerous. like some snakes, she has the ability to control her venom and when to inject it. there is an attitude for this as well, so that’s a nice helpful thought for hero training.

the snake half of her body is immensely powerful, considering snakes are particularly pure muscle. she uses this to her advantage in hero work, often known to toss items at others as a distraction. additionally, she will use this tactic during hero training with students.

because she’s cold-blooded, she is required to lounge around in the sun to effectively move. otherwise, she’s incredibly slow, exhausted, and practically useless as a hero. she cannot work in cold environments or alongside cold-based quirks, as these effect her terribly.

she has a detachable jaw. this fact is known though rarely used unless she or others are severely threatened, it is only used as a fear invoking tactic and nothing more. if overused, she can cause damage to her jaws. however, she has done it to a few students to terrify them and received heavy lectures about scaring kids.
