Yoga & Autism
Today I attended a conference about utilizing yoga for clients with autism. It was not only fascinating, but it brought me back to some of the things that make me feel invigorated: yoga, mindfulness, meditation, self-care, reflection and music. Much of the teachings demonstrated and discussed were derived from those of Thich Nhat Hanh.
Not only did I leave the conference with new resources for clients, but I was reminded of the resources within myself. I was reminded to rely on who I am at heart, the things I naturally find joy in and to view the world with less anxious eyes. I honestly felt like I was leaving a huge weight in the large behind as I left the conference center. A weight that had grown heavier with the anxiety of motherhood, an ear infection-ridden baby, being in a city I don't necessarily love and difficulty in letting go of some more difficult things that have happened. Today, for the first time in a long time, I feel lighter and surprisingly capable of letting go.

Love liberates. It doesn’t bind. Love says. ‘I love you. I love you if you’re in China. I love you if you’re across town. I love you if you’re in Harlem. I love you. I would like to be near you. I’d like to have your arms around me. I’d like to hear your voice in my ear. But that’s not possible now. So I love you. Go.’

Eight months ago exactly, three days past my due date, walking home from Wicker Park Fest in Chicago. We were about a block away from our apartment and it dawned on me that I needed to get one last photo of "Marcel" in my my belly so I asked Will to take my picture. Little did I know, I had 7 more days to go.

Whatever relationships you have attracted in your life at this moment, are precisely the ones you need in your life at this moment. There is a hidden meaning behind all events, and this hidden meaning is serving your own evolution.
