The forest had always been calming to Amber; thatās why he loved it. The breeze was softly swaying the pine tree branches above him, and he was finally starting to relax enough to tune out the eyes, when suddenly it felt like something was clawing at his chest from inside.
His head began to ache horribly, a horrible physical pain screaming from inside, causing every part of him to shake as he fell to his knees.
The eyes were chanting something; he could barely make it out through the ringing in his own head.. It sounded like they were saying āYOU ABANDONED USā he pressed his hand to the side of his head, shutting his eye tight. It felt like his skin was being torn off.
A voice suddenly sounded in his head, clearer than the chanted whispering of the eyes. āI GAVE YOU EVERYTHING.ā It repeated that several more times. Then, after a few moments, the pain was gone; he still ached horribly, and he seemed to be bleeding, but there wasnāt the horrible skinning sensation anymore.
Another man stood- or, well, floatedā in front of him. Pure black. No legs, more like a ghost tail. It was a little shorter than Amber was, but overall similar height. Amber stared up at it from the ground, absolutely befuddled. The apparition appeared to be.. ever shifting. Like a loose, scribbly animation a child might make.
āI gave you everything,ā it spoke. Its voice was harsh, broken, and very similar- if not almost the same as the eyes.
āWhat- Huh? Who are you? Why do you-ā Amber was cut off before he could continue speaking.
āI gave you EVERYTHING. I regenerated you when you were hurt, I stayed despite you getting locked up, I provided you a light in the dark at your worst moments, and youāre ABANDONING ME NOW?ā

āI am the eyes! I am your god, you were SUPPOSED TO BE MY MESSENGER! My PUPPET? But oh, just because that pathetic ice cube anonymous or whatever outed your little secrets, you turned on me? I GAVE YOU YOUR WORLD, AND YOU BROKE YOUR DEVOTION. You did everything you did for a reason, a grander purpose- I had a place set for you, but nooo, you just couldnāt do that?! Well, I hope youāre happy. This isnāt the last you or your little boyfriend will see of me, assuming you make it out of this forest alive.. Which considering I was the only thing keeping you alive, you WONāT. goodbye, for the final time!ā
āThe spirit disappeared.
Amber stared at where it had been for a few moments, dumbfounded. Before realizing he had several stab wounds, an impaling wound, one from getting his arm removed, etc etc, that hadnāt actually healed, as āThe Eyesā put them in stasis to āheal him.ā He got too his feet, putting his wing to the gaping hole in his chest as if it were a hand. āGh- thatās .. gonna be a problem. Iāll fix it when I get to the house..ā he realized there was blood getting on his wing. Red blood. He hadnāt had that in a while, at least.
āMh. Iāll be fine, it hasnāt killed me yet..ā He stretched, before taking a moment to regain his balance, growing slightly light-headed, and headed out of the forest back to the house.
