A skirt is NOT an invitation
I’m not saying that men don’t deal with these problems neither, because they do but we (or I am at least) are discussing women. As I said from the title of this (and yes, I got it from Anne with an E) A skirt is not an invitation meaning that no matter what a woman is wearing or if she’s drunk, you shouldn’t make a move on her. No, she is not “asking for it” because of what she has on. No, she is not to blame for the actions that a man with no human decency committed. Women have no choice or say when she walks down the street and someone Catcalls her, she has no say when someone spikes her drink, she has no say when a pair of men rape her or touch her inappropriately. So why are we even blaming the women, THE VICTIM, for what happened to them?
Take this scenario for example:
You’re walking down the street, you heard that there was an increase on robberies in your state but you need to go get your groceries, so everything goes along smoothly until someone holds you at gunpoint and says “Give me all your money.” but it was your fault, right? I mean, why did you go out and buy groceries in the first place? It’s also your fault that you had money on you so you were kind of asking to get robbed.
That is basically what people are doing here. They are blaming the victim for something they have no control over. What goes on in someone’s head that makes them think “hmm, they are wearing shorts, probably because it’s hot outside and OH NO! They got raped! Oops, well I guess it’s her fault since she’s wearing something she feels comfortable in” but people need to understand that no matter what a woman was wearing, it doesn’t matter how short her skirt length was, Rape is Rape. Without consent its rape and no you don’t know if she would have agreed to do that with you and no, you don’t know what she “likes”. Without the woman giving you permission willingly and while she’s sober and clear headed, whatever you do to her and her body, it will count as rape.
Which brings me to my question:
How is a minor responsible for the sexualization of THEIR body by older men?
It’s not like we, women, want to sexualized. In fact, if that could stop, we would be GLAD. I started to see that men like to see a woman's body until it’s no longer being used for their pleasure.
“Oh, you’re breastfeeding that baby! Better cover your breast up even if you're just feeding a baby which is perfectly normal but I'm going to blame you because I can't seem to keep it in my pants!” is just one example of how men find a way to make anything seem sexual, but of course, as always, if a women's body isn’t being used for them then it’s disgusting.
I apologize for not making any sense, I'm still working in this and it's not in its final draft, only in its first draft and often times, I strayed from what I was saying or didn't make sense at all
