A paper book
After I learned about the requirements of the class, my first thought was whether there was a way to make existing books portable and present more than one page. The initial idea was to develop technology that would allow text to be changed on a piece of paper, automatically, but I find out this idea was not feasible. One of the biggest disadvantages was that readers could not control the length of time the text stayed, and could not make sure that the content would change after they read it. Then I thought about how to changing the content. I found that if I used the normal sliding method to change the paper text, the function of the paper would basically overlap with the function of tablet and e-book, so I gave up the sliding change. Cutting the paper is the second idea, when the reader has finished reading the page, they can tear off a bit, and the whole new content will appear in the rest. However, after discussion with Andy, this method is also not feasible for two reasons. One is that torn paper is not easy to preserve and may pollute the environment. The second is that the creator has no control over the size of the paper that the user can tear, so that the remaining paper may not be enough to present new content. After summarizing the previous mistakes, I chose to change the paper contents by folding after each folding, and new contents appeared without tearing off part of the paper, which was also convenient for recycling. What's more, when the reader wants to review the previous section, he just needs to unfold the folded paper and the previous section will appear again. The piece of paper can eventually be folded into the size of the palm of your hand that really easy carrying after use and can be discarded after full use into a returnable bin for secondary recycling.
