Wade: As much as I’d like to cuddle up in bed with you and Cole, I’m staying in Wyn’s guest bedroom

Wade: how are things going with you and Cole btw?

Wade: How about I tell you everything when I see you? I’m free tomorrow night

Remi: Whaaaat? Since when?!

Remi: Just in and already needing alcohol... what did you manage to do already??

Remi: My treat since you're a friend in need!

Wade: A week now? It's not that bad here

Wade: I kind of sold everything I owned, quit my job and moved here hoping Wyn would take me back

Wade: I missed you, you know that? Where are we going?

It was true that Wynonna and Wade loved each other too much to be a reason to hold the other back if and when a dream presented itself. Making the mutual decision to split up while they went off to see what their respective new offers presented them was much easier said than done and when it came down to the moment Wyn holds vivid memories of crying and clinging to Wade. The separation, the split, after so many years in the making, hurt her much more than she ever anticipated. Even if she had agreed upon it, so she sent his engagement ring back. Not out of spite or to hurt him but because it didn’t feel right to keep it when it wasn’t going to happen. He had been everything to her and she knew he would always remain as such, it was just looking down and catching a glimpse of what could have been that she couldn’t handle. Relationships never worked before Wade and Wyn assumed that was because he was the one she was meant to be with. It was hard for life to make sense without him for quite some time.

There was some hesitation in letting Wade back in to her life after he’d shown up on her doorstep. Mostly for the fear getting hurt again as badly as their split wounded her. While she was happy to have him near and couldn’t really stop smiling every time she looked at him, it was difficult to get too close since it felt so easy to fall back into their old ways. “Three cheese and bacon? Wow, I guess we’re living like Kings tonight.” She laughed and her eyes traveled from his hands to his eyes and then back to what she was doing. “If I had known I would’ve dressed for the fancy occasion. You like catching me like this.” Wyn shook her head and smiled at him again. The elephant in the room was obvious to her but at the same time it was hard to launch into what terrified her at the moment, despite her optimism. “Oh really? You thinking you’re gonna have trouble keeping your hands to yourself?”

Wade was pleasantly surprised at the ease in which she let him back in, but he wasn’t about to complain about it. The feeling of her lips against his the moment he walked in the door still somehow lingered and had him longing for more of that passion that they had gone without for what seemed like an eternity. “A queen and a jester,” he corrected, offering her a smug grin before moving on to dumping the bacon into a frying pan. “I like catching you like this because you look beautiful. You know what makes you even more beautiful? The fact that you never seem to have a clue about the fact that you’re the most attractive person in every room you’re in...and that’s not just me being biased” A part of it was his bias when it came to Wyn, but everything he was saying held truth.

“That’s exactly what I’m thinking, Madsen.” His voice was low as he tried to focus on anything but her, without much success. Wade’s gaze lingered on Wyn for a few more moments before he finally gave in and let himself stand in front of her, just a small space separating them. “I’m sorry it took me so long to show up at your door.” If they were standing in the same room for the first time in a year, there was no point in avoiding the conversation any longer. “I can’t do this without you...none of it makes sense without you. And don’t get me started on what fucked up walls I had in my apartment without you to pick a paint colour for ‘em.”

Wade: So I'm in town

Wade: And I need a drink or two

Wade: And maybe some therapy. Got any time for your favourite ex co-worker?

Decision making had never been a strong suit of Wade’s when it came to relationships, but when he and Wyn were both on the same page, he let his doubt fade away and they went their separate ways. When he had received the ring he had proposed to her with in the mail, he felt himself slide into the same sadness as when they parted, but this time it was partnered with complete regret. For Wade and anyone that knew him, there was no doubt that Wyn made him the best version of himself. She completed his life, and without her in it nothing made sense except dropping everything and moving his life to where she was in hopes of feeling that level of happiness again. It was a relief when he had showed up at Wyn’s door and it had been so easy and normal to have her wrapped up in his arms.

Despite that, Wade didn’t know where things sat with them, so taking things in stride and cooking dinner together seemed like the next rational step. From the moment he walked in the door, Wade couldn’t take his eyes off of Wyn, as if he were trying to make up for those lost moments with her. “So I grabbed three cheeses...I think we deserve it.” He removed his attention from her only to avoid grating off one of his fingers while he shredded the cheese. “Not hot dogs in this one...I’m thinking bacon might be more fitting.” Everything in him wanted to address the state of things between the two of them, but focusing on cooking seemed significantly easier. It also distracted him from his itching desire to reach out for her and have any sort of physical contact. “I think you might have to stay on that side of the kitchen if we’re gonna be responsible adults here.”

How bout you and your cold feet though….Wyn is a wonderful woman, a beautiful choice I might add. Have you thought about how you’re going to propose? That’s what we’re talking about right, making her an honest woman as they say?

Just gotta go check on the gallery then I’ll be right over. I’m a sucker for ice cream for dinner. 

“I could officiate it for the right price...it’ll be the most sub-par ceremony you’ve ever been to. I’ve got the warmest feet in Portland, Tar. She’s the most amazing woman I know, and don’t get me going on how beautiful she is. You’re in my top five, don’t sweat it. I think I want to do something with photos of us over the years at the gallery and write something for all of them. And then I was thinking about cooking her a nice meal...think it’s too cheesy?”

Well if it isn’t my favourite soon to be mama. You know I can’t say no to ice cream and some quality catch up time. How are you feeling these days? I hear you guys are making things official...I’m real happy for you. And yeah, I want to. I’m just bad at this shit.

Aidan: Did you know I recently proposed again? After the nightmare of our breakup and separation, then finally coming back together, I thought it important to recommit and renew our vows. That's another thing, read those vows, ensure you can commit to them. If you can, then I'd say you have your answer.

Wade: Nah, I didn't know that, but that's romantic as hell. I've known that I've wanted all of that for a long time...I just didn't realize she wanted it too until we started dating. Nine years of hiding it...crazy, isn't it? I think I'm just nervous that she might not be ready right now or that it's moving too fast. Our relationship feels different for people who have only been dating for three months because we've been acting like a couple for ten years.

Wes: Honestly, for me it came way too long and way too late. Unfortunately given my unorthodox relationship and it being unacceptable in mainstream society, I suppose I had my reasons.

Wes: I knew when we all moved in together. I think it was that final step, seeing how we domesticate together. I wanted to marry each of them years ago though, it's just more possible now —- a commitment ceremony.

Wade: You two are damn relationship wizards

Wade: Yeah, I'm no stranger to the 'too long, too late' scenario. But I guess it's never too late if it happens, right? Ah, fuck mainstream society. I'm glad you guys get to finally do something though. What you three have is definitely something worth celebrating.

Wade: Did Remy and Taryn say anything about being ready for it or did you just know?
