addison let out an awkward laugh, setting down the other bags on the ground so she could collect her things. “thank you for catching that. i couldn’t imagine running down the street to chase that thing.” as she shuffled over to grab earth from the stranger, another model decided to make its way out of the fallen bag. “oh my god–” jupiter rolled past the two of them in a hurry, and addison was never very athletically gifted.
Warren chuckled politely, standing back up with the globe in his hand. As he handed it back to the overburdened woman he, at the same time as she, noticed another planet break free from her bag. How unlucky was that. “Jupiter’s getting away,” He joked, hopping back and darting his leg out to try and hook the planet with his foot. He failed but at least he managed to knock the planet off course and onto the grass by them. He would take that! Moving over to pluck Jupiter out of the grass, he laughed, pointing at the bag. “You might want to close that.”

Cordelia didn’t usually call the plumber, her dad pretty much knew what he was doing, but when he didn’t pick up the phone due to him being at work, it’s not like she had much of a choice. It was either call the plumber now or wait another two hours until her dad got home from work to fix it and by then, she was almost certain it’d be double broken. Waiting in the living room, she honestly wasn’t sure how she even managed to break the sink in the first place, she’s never done anything like that before. She was just glad she called the plumber when she did, otherwise she’d probably be in big trouble.
Biting her nail, she looked up at the other as she waited for him to finish talking. “How much time do you need to fix it? No one besides me knows it’s even broken in the first place honestly. My mom’s at the store and my dad’s at work, so I didn’t exactly get the chance to even tell them yet.”
If only Warren was the snooping type, he might have seen a picture family picture here or there... Fortunately for his sanity, he did not; only Cordelia, and she didn’t seem to have called someone like himself before today. He smiled reassuringly - at least he hoped so. “As soon a the replacement pipe comes in, I can have it installed in half an hour easy. It’s a slightly older model so it’s not readily available downtown.” While in the kitchen, he had saved the girl’s phone number under ‘Cordelia’, looking through his recent calls to find her. “As soon as it comes in I’ll call you to set up a time to replace it.” He asked rhetorically, putting his phone back in his pocket, feeling the moisture across t-shirt.

a month after her big move, and addison was still missing some essentials. she had forgotten how much work it was to uproot her entire life to relocate. she struggled with the bags in hand, letting out a yelp with the bottom of one bust open onto the sidewalk. “oh– shoot!”
Warren always had the hope that he could somehow wipe away the red in his ledger, that there was something he could do that would finally balance the scales. It led him to hunting demons that caught his attention - which, being fair, wasn’t very frequently at all. It led him to helping people when he could. Right now, it led him to giving this unlucky stranger a hand, always thinking ‘if this was my mum or sister what would I want a stranger to do for them?’
“Here, let me give you a hand,” He said, crouched a short distance away where a...globe of the planet had rolled toward him.

“it was embarrassing to watch.” she responded, not so much in a harsh way either more like she was stating the obvious. of course not many might have noticed such as she did, honestly if the familiar dug deeper in herself she might’ve said she felt bad for him but the communicating the deeper things within ones self escaped her - just as her other form did. why exactly was she on two legs right now? “of course though if i were you i would get one of those assistants people have, they can help you out all the time with things like that.”
“I’ve thought about getting an assistant,” Warren said, voice friendly. There had been a moment there where his brow had half risen, thinking he was being insulted in the passive aggressive sort of way but then the penny had dropped: this girl was just blunt. Warren appreciated that after all the lies, misdirections and manipulations he had been through in his past. “Though I’m not sure I’m widely known enough yet to warrant it. Not just yet.” He smiled, going for that charming-cute way he defaulted to.
ozphobia:
“You sure?” Osiris’ lips twitched into a smile. Aside from the recent masquerade, he didn’t typically bump into his neighbor. Oz appreciated the coincidence. “He’s tall. Dark. Sparkly. Likes running around in the woods. I thought you two were besties.” He placed his drink back down before giving Warren a quick once-over. He lifted a brow. “Coffee run before another appointment?” Warren’s massive toolbelt was hard to miss. “I feel like you have your work cut out for you around here.” He folded a clean napkin to use as a bookmark. “All the old buildings… I’m sure the pipes are ancient.” Then with a delicate touch, Oz shut his book. He’d continue reading later. “Do you lay a lot of pipe, Warren?”
Was Oz flirting? It felt like flirting. On anyone else Warren would think he was being flirted with, especially the ‘laying pipe’ double entendre. He chuckled, smiling toothily as he took it, seeing Oz look him over. He had nothing to hide, though the toolbelt look definitely fit a ‘type’ more. Oz definitely put a lot of grace and intellectuality into what he did, enough that Warren wasn’t quite sure what his intentions were. That didn’t mean he wouldn’t sass back. Or flirt. “I’ve been known to sort out some pipes,” He quipped back, his voice huskier but still within the range of ‘innocent’. Oz would see right through it given his profession. “Are you probing me for something specific, Oz?” He hummed and took a deep drink from his to-go cup.
xlcvers:
“ i could kiss you right now, “ for various reasons but that was besides the point. “ i owe you. free food of course and i’ll pay for whatever you need. “ hearing that it’ll take time isn’t the best news but she trusts him with her baby diner. “ ah- well… there was a fight. the ex boyfriend and current boyfriend of a waitress ran into each other and it wasn’t pretty. “ of course they hadn’t exactly been the ones to cause a hole. she’d tried to separate them but she’d been a little too intense with her powers and one of them had gone through the wall. on the upside they were both too concussed from their tussling to make much sense of what happened. “ who said chivalry was dead. “ sienna adds sarcastically.
After Sienna’s sassy, cheeky comment it was on the tip of his tongue to say ‘why don’t you?’. He was glad he didn’t get the chance to as he got the story behind the hole in the wall. The boyfriend was the ex, and a aggressive by the sound of it. Warren frowned sympathetically, knowing if Sienna had been his sister there would have been more than a hole in the wall. Sienna had been so excited about the boyfriend too...a shame. A big shame. Sienna was nice; Warren had been happy for her even if it didn’t stop their cheeky, flirty banter.
“I don’t think it’s dead, I just think a few dickheads give us all a bad rap.” He knew he could be chivalrous and considerate and all that good stuff. Sometimes. There were limits on how real he could be, with anyone, given what he was, what he could do, and what he has done. “I can slap some plywood over the hole in the meantime, maybe move the menu board over it to cover it up?” Sienna’s disappointment on how long it would take was obvious. It seemed like salt into the wound.
