Mythaura Musings Challenge
While we wait for Mythaura’s beta, Maggotjuicebox and I have decided to do a creativity challenge for fun, and to help us brainstorm lore and art for our future beasts! We thought it could be a neat community event too, hence this post.
The Mythaura Musings Challenge will take place from September 1st to January 31st. Each month will have one central theme, and there will be 4-5 prompts per month (so one prompt/submission per week). Please see the following calendar (made by Mags!) for the theme prompts, with further details below.
If you would like to join, you can share your creations on Tumblr with the tag #Mythaura Musings Challenge, or on Mythaura's official discord in the Mythaura Musings Challenge #community-events thread. Mags will also be awarding art badges for those who participate (see below). Using the prompts, we hope to encourage us as a community to explore and share our personal lore plans with each other!
Rules for Participation: 1. Please follow Mythaura’s official content rules for all submissions. An overview of their rules can be found in their discord's rules channel. 2. All submissions must be your own work (excluding beast creator images). 3. No AI generated content allowed. 4. For written submissions, there is no minimum or maximum word limit, this is mainly for fun! It is a “challenge” in the sense that we hope the prompts help you to develop future lore and art for your beasts and abode once the site launches. 5. Art submissions can be in any form: traditional, digital, photography, crocheting, mixed media, baking/food, etc, whatever you’d like!

September: Creatures of Mythaura Week 1 (9/1-9/7): Breeding Projects – starters, planned pairs Week 2 (9/8-9/14): Companions Week 3 (9/15-9/21): Beast Species – Basilisk, Dragon, Griffin, Hippogriff, Kirin, Peryton, Quetzal, Ryu, Unicorn Week 4 (9/22-9/28): Genetics – colors, specials, supers, mutations Week 5 (9/29-10/5): Beast Creator Challenge – Try to make a beast (or a few) with a specific silly theme in the beast creator, and share your creations! Examples: fruits, food, flowers, flags, cat or dog breeds, etc

December: Culture and Customs Week 1 (12/1-12/7): Holidays, Festivals Week 2 (12/8-12/14): Culinary Traditions – ingredients, recipes, etiquette, symbolism, medicinal use Week 3 (12/15-12/21): Rites of Passage – birthdays, weddings, funerals, graduations, job and role transitions, etc Week 4 (12/22-12/28): Myths & Fables – stories, values passed down through generations Week 5 (12/29-1/4): Beast Creator Challenge (round 2) - Try to make a beast (or a few) with a specific silly theme in the beast creator, and share your creations!
January: Genesis, Synthesis Week 1 (1/5-1/11): Abode – overall theme and lore, geography, biome, etc of your planned abode Week 2 (1/12-1/18): Mythsonas – personal characters’ lore and backstories Week 3 (1/19-1/25): NPC Fanfic/art Week 4 (1/26-1/31): Guilds & Goals – Guild or adventure party lore; short- or long-term game goals Badges! (by Mags) Each month you will have the opportunity to earn two different badges, a normal one (blue ink bottle) and a shiny one (gold ink bottle). The normal badge is earned by completing one prompt, and the shiny by completing all prompts of the month.
