Stronger II Weevilswobble

Katie was incredibly nervous about having Eli over for dinner. She wanted to impress him, desperately, and she just didn’t know if she could do it. Something about this dinner just felt so…real and adult. She had never cooked a meal for a man before and the thought was terrifying her a little bit. Eli was always the one who cooked for her, or brought her out, and this was her first time to show him that she wasn’t a child, she could be as adult as him. She took a deep breath as she checked on the sauce she was cooking. It was her mom’s recipe and she hoped that he would like it. She needed to calm down and stop stressing herself out so much. She shook her head to herself and walked into the bathroom, checking her hair and makeup. She hadn’t overdone herself, wanting to look casual but cute. She was just wearing a shirt she loved and a pair of jeans and made sure that she looked very natural, but she hoped that Eli wouldn’t mind.

The knock at the door made Katie jump, but she took another deep breath and closed her eyes for a moment. Then she composed herself and walked to the door, opening it and smiling when she saw Eli standing there. “Hey, come in,” she said, smiling at him and opening the door wider for him. She leaned up and kissed his cheek, blushing slightly and then she just watched him. She had gotten a tentative copy of her story at work today and she wanted to show it to him after dinner. He had been the one who inspired her and encouraged her to write the story so she wanted him to be the first one to see and read it, other than her boss and the people at work. Hell, he had encouraged her more these past few weeks and made her feel like a stronger and better person. “How was your day?” She asked him, smiling.

Eli had been putting off seeing Katie, not because he didn’t want to see her because he did. He was just so busy working two jobs and then when he got home all he wanted to was sleep which was something he seemed to lacking lately. Either way he had said that he would be there and that was why he was on his way to her apartment for dinner.  He hadn’t managed to get the day off, so he was exhausted. Even the drive over to her apartment after his shower seemed to take longer than it should…seemed too, in reality it didn’t take much time at all he was just tired.  He pulled into an empty parking place and sat there for a moment or two before getting out and heading to her apartment.  He barely knocked on her door before she was there opening.

Stepping inside he smiled when she pressed a kiss to his cheek. “Hey Blondie.” Eli said as he walked passed her further into the apartment. “My day was alright, long. Had to be at the Campus for five and then at Angels shop for three.” Which had been cutting it extremely close since he hadn’t finished work at the campus until two thirty. “Other than that it was alright, it smells great in here by the way.” He said taking a deep breath and inhaling the aroma of whatever she was cooking.

  "Yes, unfortunately for you. I’m just glad it was that easy. Talking to him was always.. difficult. " she said thinking about when she lived with the guy. Her thought process quickly changed as the timer went off. "Well you won’t have to wait much longer." Natalie replied as she put the mittens on her hands to pull out the pan. Placing it on the stove, she turned to him. "Wait 5 minutes unless you want to burn your mouth." she said sternly.

Eli reached out and touched her arm lightly, he couldn't help himself; little touches here and there made him feel closer to her even if they had been sharing the bed, there was no touching aside from the times he'd wake up with her cuddled against his side, but then it would be like nothing had happened.  "Well I'm glad for you it was easy." He said honestly as she got up and went to the oven pulling out the delicious smelling meal. "Five minutes?" He echoed looking from her to the pan. "You ask a lot of me Red."

  Natalie grinned, happy that he thought the food smelled great. “Lasagna. It’s this recipe I put took together myself a few years ago.” Cooking was always one thing she had going for her, especially since she hung out with her dad’s chef most of the day. She smiled lightly as he touched her shoulder, turning to lean against the counter. “So I talked to Fitz..” she started off saying, “and he said he’d send the stuff as long as he doesn’t hear from me and that I stay away from his cousin’s business.”

Eli nodded his head and took a seat at the table beside her, glancing at the paper and the job adds she'd been circling.  "I can't wait to try it." He said honestly, he was starving; having worked through his lunch break because well the air conditioning wasn't fixing it's self and he had little patience for the students at Hearst.  Eli's attention perked up when she mentioned she had talked to Fitz, listening as she told him what he had said. "Well darn, here I was hoping to bother them a little more." He joked giving her a grin. "Sounds easy enough to do."

Natalie was looking through the job section in the newspaper as she sipped her coffee. With pen in hand, she circled random offers that she thought she could do. The oven beeped behind her so she glanced over her shoulder. She stood up and made her way over to peek into the oven. “% more minutes,” she said to herself closing the door. As she walked back to the counter, the door opened. Natalie tensed for a moment. It had only been a week since Owen’s appearance so she was still on edge, but her body relaxed as Eli walked in. “Hey,” she greeted him with a smile.

Eli raised a brow and looked behind himself when he watched her relax before realizing she was probably still a little on edge after Owen's visit.  "Hey." He said with a nod before tossing his jacket onto one of the kitchen chairs. "Smells great in here, what are you making?" He asked walking passed her, he squeezed her shoulder lightly, just wanting to touch her smooth skin. "I swear you're trying to make me fat or something." He was going to need to work out more with all the treats she seemed to make...not that he was complaining.

  I wasn’t really going to write it…but then I couldn’t sleep one night and it just…came to me and I wrote it. I still have a lot of editing and rewriting to do, but I’m excited.
