Love Is For Suckers
Another surprising kdrama! It is so funny because I had started the first episode and found it a bit odd and boring, so I decided to stop. I am so happy that I gave it a second chance because it is such a little Korean gem! The trope of friends-to-lovers is always a nice one, since you show yourself more truthfully to your friends than to a date you want to impress.
The way everything happened in the K-drama was unexpected and enjoyable. I was just watching with my mouth open throughout the wedding, the dating show, to the truths that were revealed, and how everything ended. The participants of the dating show were nice and varied. I have never watched a dating show in real life, so it was interesting to see it in a K-drama and to have the knife incident, which absolutely took me by surprise.
I liked the background peek into the production of these types of shows. Everyone had personal reasons for being there - finding love, getting attention for themselves or their brands and companies. The character developments in both good and bad directions were so good. Also, the intricate relationship between Goo Yeo Reum and Kang Chae Ri was refreshing. I loved it when Goo Yeo Reum defended Kang Chae Ri at the food tent.
I, of course, especially liked the character progress of Chef Jang. He even apologized to Goo Yoo Reum. I was shocked at some stories and how Kang Chae Ri used them, although things like that are what made the K-drama so realistic. The reason behind Park Jae Hoon's retreat from medicine was rough and well-played out.
On another note....these two! It was such a surprise, and I never expected it until the scene where "John" Jang was about to throw away the food he prepared for Jang Tae Mi, the show producers were trying to pair him with, and Park Ji Wan saved the food and was excitedly recognizing everything he had tried to explain to Jang Tae Mi. Every second they spent on screen was bliss for me.
