I found an Alder tree that had fallen down two months ago, after rain storms in Washington had saturated the soil for weeks. Since then polypore fungi are sprouting all along the the tree sections.

Indian Pipes, a plant that has no chlorphyll and doesn’t get food through the sun and photosynthesis, so lacks color. It gets food from mycorrhizal fungi. I found this plant at Priest Point Park in Olympia, Washington.
