@what-do-you-take-me-for
just wanted to share the National Down Syndrome Society’s message for this year’s World Down Syndrome Day (21st March) 💛💙
Powerful message that lovingly includes multiple disabilities, united. I love this.
[ID: Screenshot of the tiktok message from ndssorg that reads: This #World Down Syndrome Day (spaces for readability), we've joined forces with @/coordown and other international Down syndrome organizations to spread the powerful message: No Decision Without Us. 💪
People with disabilities deserve a seat at the table where decisions are made about their lives, their futures, and their rights. Let's work together towards a world where every voice is valued. # No Decision Without Us #WDSD25 /End ID]

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
Reblog if you stand against order, civilization, and goodness itself
goes hard ngl
Consider:

75 reblogs, fred continues to grow
reminder to spread out your branches (ie. dont spam reblogs on one post), he's starting to get a little crowded near the trunk :(
At 1788 Reblogs, Fred is spreading nicely... But We Can Do Better :)
I would like to see the Fred again please
Oh, ✨Fred!✨

Everybody get more anti war right now
What is even there to say? I can't keep waking up in a world where I read the news and I see schoolchildren bombed, millions of people displaced, old ladies carrying their cats and while their houses get turned into rubble, the waste of industry and human talent into bombs that shoot down other bombs.
Am I insane? what the fuck is going on?
Even the most just war of liberation is painful and regrettable, but you well know I'm not talking about that, we're watching first world countries sell weapons to feed endless war and just bombing targets like if it's a reflex act just what they do, the complete surrender of any hope of building a better world or coexisting and we're all treating this like it's just the natural state of things.
I'm sorry if I'm being dramatic but genuinely, get more anti war right now.
Warfare is not an inherent state of humanity, in any case, and it can and it will be abolished. I'm tired of people treating this like it's just the weather or nature. We know the material reasons behind war and they don't hold up and won't hold up forever.
GUYS THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION IS TESTING OM TRANS PEOPLE

Are you now... or have you ever been.... the sleepious bug
Not beating the sleepious bug allegations!
Consider this a sequel to this morning’s post talking about that SOS from that woman.
To kidnap people, starve them, beat them, torture them and even rape the whole taking their personal belongings? HOW does someone NOT being here “legally” justify that EVIL treatment?? Because guess what fuck sticks? NO ONE but Native Americans are here legally.
But thankfully a group called Haven Watch is formed to help these victims. You can donate if you can but if you can’t just spread the word!
No One Walks Alone
My mom and her teacher friends have a similar group here in New York and me and my friends have a similar kind of group going on.
Because this is NOT about differing opinions BUT of what’s morally right and I don’t want to look in the mirror 20 years from now regretting not what j could have done.
I feel like I’m having an identity crisis… I always go back and forth between being wholesome and peace seeking to being dark and edgy.
50% of me likes to read up on things like WW2, methods of execution, and serial killers. I like things like vampires, dragons, and franchises like Saw, FNAF, and Poppy Playtime. I play games like Castlevania. I love gothic architecture. Both the regular and the dark types. Black is one of my favorite colors. I like elegant furniture, including the very gothic ones.
And then the other half of me daydreams about being in a loving relationship and having a happy, healthy family. I strive to be happy and find inner peace. I enjoy nature and its beauty. I play games like Sky, which promotes compassion and light, as well as other cozy games. I love animals, especially birds, and have even painted my room a sky blue to emulate nature. The Dracula figurine looks so out of place in there… I like cozy furniture. I am not a true goth at all. I dress in clothes meant for camping and working out in the farms.
So who am I…?
You are a person of wondrous complexity. And you are not the only one who enjoys this specific dichotomy. I also like vampires and dragons and Castlevania and the gothic aesthetic. And the color I wear the most is blue! Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night is a wonderful poem! As is The Raven! And Jabberwocky! The thing I think is most important in this life is loving our neighbors! Nature is cool and interesting, and can be dark and bloody. And I find enjoyment in softness and warmth and standing in a light rain and reading silly books!
There is both darkness and light, day and night in this life. What does it matter to find peace with both our life and our mortality?
every 14-16 year old is the bravest person on the planet to me
talking to a 15 year old like wow okay you are like if scrambled eggs was a person. I don't know how to save you. the way you move through the world is reminiscent of a stray cat whose soul got punted into a human body. said human body is currently undergoing changes and floods of hormones that would result in cities being levelled if you were perhaps a big dragon and not a medium sized primate. been there. good luck I love you
you don't have to excuse the behaviours of shitty teenagers, but you DO have to remember that they've been on this earth only as long as your cat. you have to ensure that the way you respond to said behaviour reflects this. yes they're an entire person. they're also going through a period of the most insane rapid transformation (physically, mentally, emotionally and socially) a person can experience in life. are they an irredeemable monster or are they just a very impressionable young person floundering through their first Strong Opinions based on what they've seen online, with ridiculous amounts of Hormone That Makes You Hate Everything in their bloodstream?
YOUNG TEENAGERS. are YOU an irredeemable monster or are YOU just a very impressionable young person floundering through your first Strong Opinions based on what you've seen online, with ridiculous amounts of Hormone That Makes You Hate Everything in your bloodstream? I'll give you a hint. it's the second option. cut yourself some slack too! try your very best to be kind, try your very best to consider people with differing experiences to you, and maybe take a step back from discourse that does nothing besides make you upset. you've only been an animal alive on this planet for a decade and a bit. there are artisanal cheddars at your local supermarket older than you. take it easy. eat more fruit. save up for a second hand bicycle. join a local club. it's impossibly difficult to be a teenager but you have it in you, whether you're aware of it or not. I hope you can be kind to yourself, because you DO deserve that kindness. kia kaha [:
reblog if ur mom is smart and beautiful
This is one of my favorite sites on here because everyone who reblogged it truly believes it because their moms won’t actually see it
I miss when library books used to have little paper pockets inside with a list of all the people who borrowed it and when... I hate that this is now exclusive knowledge of librarians. I do care that a miss Mariana borrowed this book in 1985 and then Dario in 1997. They're my brothers and sisters
but really, there's a million reasons why it's an issue for users and staff of the public library to have immediate access to a record of who has borrowed a specific item and when.
and that's not even about keeping the information "privileged" to the library staff, these days they don't even keep a digital record of an item's history of borrowers; once you return a book, there isn't a list of everyone thats ever taken that book out that your name gets added to (though they probably take a tally of how many times it is checked out for circulation statistics).
i think the card system is a remnant of a culture that could only exist in the world before the internet as it exists today, where this identifying kind of information wasn't always readily at your fingertips, even for those at the "information professional" level.
don't get me wrong here, i do understand the nostalgia factor to it as being part of a different time, but i think it's always important to understand why this kind of system has its flaws and has been (at least in north america) taken out of practice
bear in mind that US public libraries spent most of the past twenty years fighting off lawsuits that they were prohibited from disclosing to the public because when 9/11 happened the federal government wanted a list of every person who read certain books and the librarians had a really bad feeling about where that kind of policy would end up going, for some reason.
not keeping the records in the first place is a way for the libraries to protect themselves when they stand up for your privacy.

This was a thing in multiple libraries. We really want to protect your freedom to access information.

Ok the US Attorney General says that she will remove ICE if MN drops all our sanctuary laws, complies with ICE, hands over all our SNAP, Medicaid and voter rolls. They demand control over our voter registration so they can "ensure free and fair elections".
They want to control our elections.
I am dead serious people call your representatives. Get volunteering. Get protesting. Get LOUD.
They released a letter full of straight up lies. Spread the truth. MAKE NOISE.

How interesting. How very interesting. They rejected my Blaze of this post.
Well, y'all. Make of this what you will, eh?
Then I guess we'll just have to Blaze it the old fashioned way, eh?
Boosting signal. AGAIN.
honestly the main reason i care about harm reduction is that i believe addicts are deserving of life. "what if they don't get clean?" they still deserve to live. "what if they don't contribute?" they still deserve to live. "what if they 'abuse' the system?" they still deserve to live.
addicts deserve to live by virtue of them being human. nothing will change that. nobody deserves to die of an overdose.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but the idea that you can make a little mistake while doing your taxes and then go to jail for it is mostly not a thing. If you make a mistake on your taxes you'll get a letter in the mail that says 'hey you made a mistake on your taxes' and then you can fix it (source: I have made mistakes on my taxes, international tax treaties are complicated). The only time people typically go to jail for tax stuff is if they commit massive intentional (or negligent, like if they run a business and never consult any expert on how payroll taxes work) fraud over a long period of time.
There's basically no way for a person new to doing taxes - and presumably not handling a lot of money - to accidentally fuck up those taxes in a way that's going to end with that person in jail.
time for this to start going around again
remember: the IRS wants its money more than they want to deal with the headache of prosecuting you.
they send you a letter, you take an hour (or less) to fix it, you send in your correction, and then it's all fine. you might have to pay a late fee or something but they're not gonna jump down your throat for a mistake, literally hundreds of thousands of people fuck up on their taxes every year.
I literally did this last year -- I do my taxes by hand (because fuck TurboTax and HR Block).
I made an error with a decimal place and told them that they owed me $800.
The IRS sent me a letter pointing out what line I'd made the error on and said that they were going to send me an $80 refund.
They didn't even make me refile.
ALSO
THEY WILL NEVER CONTACT YOU BY PHONE. THE IRS IN MY EXPERIENCE SO FAR DOES EVERYTHING BY PAPER.
ETHAN COLE ISN'T REAL, it's a VERY busy scam.
to all of my not-american followers: yes, the IRS knows exactly how much you owe. no, they will not tell us. yes, we just have to live like this.
Funny story, we used to not have to do taxes, the IRS would just take the money. For some reason, people did not like that. That’s why we have to do taxes the way we do today.
It has nothing to do with people not liking it and everything to do with lobbying from H&R Block and TurboTax.
