As soon as Fallon spoke, Nancy turned a shade of red that had been previously unseen. “Wh--” she started, confused to the bone. The closeness of the other girl’s body only made her dizziness worse, but at the same time, she felt like she’d die if she took even so much as one step back. “I- I don’t know what you mean,” she lied in a whispered tone before she bit her lip, looking down at her shoes to try and make sense of her current situation.

WITH a nod, Claire escorted her to an empty room. With her hand still on the girl’s shoulder, she helped her sit down and then went to get her some water and something to eat. “ You seem weak, you need to rest and get some food in you. ” Claire said, sitting down next to her. “ You needn’t worry about your friends, though. They’re in very good hands and they’ll make it out of this. ” With a smile, she tried to offer her comfort, though it wasn’t the best smile she’d given out.

     “ Why are you worried about forgetting? Do you think they’ll need to forget what happened there? ” She asked, frowning slightly.

Nancy was fidgeting with the edge of her sweater while the nurse was busy getting some water and a snack, and as much as she wanted to believe her when she told Nancy not to worry, there was the nagging feeling that this would never fully be over -- and that Nancy was to blame.

The quiet of the room gave Nancy too much space to think about her own thoughts, and with a frown, she tried her best to keep her voice from shaking. “I just--” she said, suddenly overwhelmed by the feeling of safety that the nurse was radiating. The words were right there, all of her worries that had been keeping her awake for nights, but they got stuck in her throat, and instead she simply shook her head. “They must’ve been in an awful place,” she said instead, “I’d think they’d want to forget that,” she went on softly, holding out her hand for the plastic cup of water before taking a sip.
