Currently having sleep paralysis over the entire Miraculous storyline AND timeline. Chat Blanc, my saving grace. Catacylsm them.
Offshoot of @Whytimeline, specifically for my Miraculous Ladybug fanfics/rants about the shows particularly interesting worldbuilding and storyline choices.
Mini thought rant but I really prefer the thought of Tikki and Plagg being the concepts of Restoration and Deterioration instead of Creation and Destruction
Creation implies that everyone that had died during an akuma, everything destroyed was recreated. These are new people, new objects not made up of the same atoms or flesh that were the originals.
Restoration returns what was once lost. It returns what has been broken to it's original form prior to an akuma attack. It does not re-create the lost souls or items, simply brings them back (and you could go on a whole time travel rant with this I guess but not right now).
Sure, Destruction and Deterioration are sort of the same, but Deterioration implies more control and less... Evil sounding? It sounds more neutral and morally grey. People hear Creation and Destruction and think immediately of the creation of life or of new technologies, instead of an overabundance of cancerous cells continuously being created in someone's system. Destruction makes people think of toppled civilizations, the burning of the Library of Alexandria and lost knowledge, famines and plagues, instead of destroying the strings holding you in a toxic relationship or destroying evil at its root.
Deterioration is a much blurrier line with Restoration, and they can technically do that same job if you love the yin yang "we are two sides of the same coin" deal. Restoring a rusty chunk of metal to its pristine shine, or deteriorating the rust on the metal until it's no longer being corroded. Or, if you want a more Creation-Destruction outlook: "rewinding the clock" of a once lush and green deforested jungle to it's original foliage and life, and "fast forwarding" the trees wood to develop rot and splinter away, brown the leaves and dehydrate the roots.
This would also bring balance to akumatization with either the Ladybug or Black Cat user being about to revert the akuma, i.e. Ladybug restoring it to it's once innocent white form, or Chat Noir deteriorating the evil within it until it's washed clean.
"But the Lucky Charms!!!" Idk man, make Marinette look in the garbage cans or something for an item she'll think will be useful, pull out a bent handsaw, have Adrien scoff in disgust and ask "did you just pull that out of the trash??" and her announce confidently that it's her 'Lucky Charm' and will help them win the battle before using the metal and the sun's rays to blind the floating pair of eyes. It also supports the shows lowkey objective of their "go-green"/"recycle" viewpoints too.
😛 what if I just planned and wrote out a kwami swap au with the entire cast and focused on character growth/friendships/general relationships because canon rage baits me so much with how they just either write out or trash characters regardless of their set-up arc entirely like they aren't meant to portray actual human beings ahahaha
Luka and Chloe are definitely not my over the edge push and Alya and Adrien's missed out on 'both new kid'/'I LOVE SUPERHEROES' friendship is DEFINITELY not the sole reason for its creation ahahahaha
😛
dw i'm like 7k words into chapter 2 for Chat Blanc and methinks it's gonna be 10 chapters long not including special inbetween POVS
Actively having visions of a ficlet/one shot where Chat Blanc mugs Bunnix for her miraculous and uses it to go back in time, presumably with the intent to replace himself and get his happy ending.
But upon getting there this much older Adrien can only look at the young boy he's blamed for being too weak, to slow, not enough, and for once actually see that he IS just a young boy. That he's just a kid. That Chat Blanc was just a kid. That he can blame himself(oh BOY can he blame himself) for what's happened as much as his ruined heart desires, but he can't bring himself to blame this poor, innocent blonde beam of sunshine.
Cue the messiest, most unhinged fix-it fic in the world where a very much still akumatized Chat Blanc decides to solve Younger Marinette and Adrien problems HIS way. Starting with Lila at the peak of her deception era.
Key vivid visions include Chat Blanc standing over Adrien's sleeping body, claw glowing white, unable to take that last step, sobbing over him. Followed by Chat Blanc stalking a terrified Lila through darkened school hallways, letting her run like a cat playing with his prey.
He won't kill her(no matter how much he wants too), because it would make his young ones cry. But oh, he will make sure she sheds ten tears for every drop that Marinette has cried over that wretched girls words. Flinch twice for every cringe Adrien made when her dirty mitts touched him without consent.
And don't even get me started on Gabriel.
Just.... Chat Blanc as avenging guardian angel. Fierce protector and guardian to his kids, horror movie monster to everyone else.
The timeline ragebaiting me so much when I got to August of 2017 for "Qilin" and found out Dearest Family or whatever is on January 6.
So here's a 1.4k (out of about 12k (; ) sneak peak of the Chat Blanc fic before I calm down and think rationally enough to not preview it before I even have chapter 2 done;
Sweat pooled underneath her. Ladybug fell to her knees, frantically patting her chest. Another shot rang out with a sharp crack! and she registered another short burst of… something affecting her. There wasn’t any pain. There wasn’t even an entrance wound, so what did-?
Ladybug swallowed a wail. She recoiled back, too violently, that made her head swirl and heave as if it had been filled with-
𝐖⃥⃒̸𝐀⃥⃒̸𝐓⃥⃒̸𝐄⃥⃒̸𝐑⃥⃒̸
Water. Heaps of angry waves crashed into her. Ladybug clawed and kicked, feeling around for a solid foundation, only to find a bloated-
B̴͖̆ ̸̨̥̽O̵͎̽ ̶̺̏D̸̥̏ ̸̫̆Ÿ̵̛̗͖
Screaming and flailing, she kicked off of the body. Water flooded into her mouth and throat. Ladybug choked, choked on the contaminated waves; choked back tears that would only add to her drowning. She fumbled for her bandalore, splitting the top into open ladybird wings before unlocking the respirator and shoving clean air into her lungs-
Caterwauled a voice she almost didn’t recognize. Ladybug froze in the wine-dark of the ocean, hovering without the air of gravity to pull her down. She coughed out the death-infested water that had broken into her body, evaporating into the respirator. It took a few moments too long for her comfort, when she finally could properly breathe again. Muffled banging broke up the utter silence of the ocean, but it felt like an afterthought.
Slowly, ever so slowly, Ladybug began to swim her way up to the cascading light. It would have been beautiful, had she maybe been at a beach, or in some swimming pool, the way those warm rays broke up the deep blues of the sea.
A sea infected by the dead.
“My Lady!” Big, weepy blue eyes met her before she broke the surface of the waters. Claws dug into her shoulders, locking her in place as they heaved her up onto a dilapidated concrete building suspiciously reminiscent of Chloe’s father’s hotel-
“You came back! You’re here! For me!” White. That was all she registered when she looked at the person in front of her. All white, broken up by the tanned skin and crystal blue eyes.
Her tongue felt like it was cracking, a nasty residue soured her mouth.
“Ch- Chat…?”
Chat Blanc’s grin was too wide. Too much teeth- sharp sharp teeth reminiscent of a shark that smelled the blood of a wounded turtle with its shell split open. His tail curled and flicked to-and-fro. His ears perked, stiff and focused on her every move. His once black ring that beeped and had a green pawprint was now silver and cold and dead.
“Are you ready to finally make The Wish, Marinette?”
Ladybug choked on the air of his breath. Her eyes bulged, and the moon that hung just to the right of Chat Blanc’s head was as cracked in two as her heart was. Fumbling, grabbing for her Lucky Charm, she opened her mouth to release the magic- release her-
The eraser, once predominantly red, crumbled and deteriorated. Black and grey ash remained, and soon, was taken up by a faint breeze that chilled Ladybug even further.
She stared at Chat Blanc’s claws that hovered over her palm. The white sheen given to it by the sun that gave no warmth nearly blinded her.
His eyes bore into her. His mouth didn’t move–it didn’t need to.
His voice echoed over the now calmed waves, lapping at the concrete and slowly eating it away.
His mouth moved now; “Marinette.” His pout–oh, no his dilated pupils that nearly made his eyes black–made Ladybug hesitate. The roundness of baby fat in his face bunched up, and her heart twinged. “Give me your earrings.”
“Your Miraculous.” His snowy-white talons seemed like a cage for the air in his palm.
She swallowed, covering her ears with her trembling hands. A blanket of reassurance that they were still there. “I- I can’t-”
“You can! Marinette please!” Chat Blanc whined. He sagged to his knees, clutching a hand to his chest. His free hand–claws still sharp and glistening–dug into her thigh as if she could stabilize him. “Please.”
“You’re hurting me…” Ladybug whimpered. She kept her hands over her ears, shoving those earplugs in further and hoping that they’d muffle his cries.
“I killed them.” Chat Blanc’s eyes downturned, his lips wobbled.
The Eiffel Tower, far, far behind him, began to screech and cave in on itself. Once supported beams creaked and crunched. The stress of the weight its pillars held gave way, and the display of power the French tower held fell into the hungry claws of the rising ocean below. Waves shot up in response, ripples in the water to her and Chat Blanc’s side grew in size.
“Chat-”
“I killed them, Marinette!” Chat Blanc ignored her plea, his mournful howling only getting louder and louder. “Nino! Alya! My father- You.”
“It’s-” Ladybug faltered, wide eyes on the growing… Tsunami behind him. “It’s not your- your fault-”
“It is! I need your Miraculous to bring them all back!” He hissed, porcelain white hair rising like a bristling cat. “Why do you want them to stay dead? They’re your friends! My friends! You’re killing me like I killed you!” Chat Blanc wailed, now digging both of his claws desperately into her thighs. “Don’t isolate me like my father did! Please-!”
Ladybug shoved Chat Blanc back when the electric bolts of pain shot up her legs. The deafening roar of the growing tsunami had all but confirmed their deaths anyways. “I can’t- Chaton- I’m so sorry-”
“Liar!” He hissed, eyes sharpening. “You’re just like him. You’re just like Hawk Moth!”
“What-?” She blubbered. She couldn’t remember how to breathe.
Chat Blanc convulsed, his crystal blue eyes widening.
“Chat?” Ladybug gasped, shooting her arms out to support his body weight. Sharp, jagged lines like lighting cracked and began to split the white of Chat Blanc’s suit. She jerked back, a flickering white that was beginning to pulsate in his right talons snuffed out. His body began to crumble not moments later, returning that white to its rightful black. Humanoid soon became a pile of ash, just like her eraser had.
Screams ripped out of her throat. Ladybug threw herself onto the pile, frantically trying to hide it from the greed of the winds.
“Chat! Chat no- Please!” She kept her body over what remained even as the growing waves collapsed onto her. Her body was smashed against the concrete of the old hotel. She couldn’t breathe. Her Chaton had just- had he cataclysmed himself?
Claws dug themselves into her shoulders. Violently, she was thrown back against the angry waters. Her ears popped. Ladybug twisted and turned, the amount of pressure on her neck and spine made her muscles tense and bones lock up.
“Ṃ̶̈y̵̩̍ ̸̦̃L̶̡͝a̴̗̍d̴̛͍y̶̬̾!̷͕̽”
The ocean began to lift. She felt light, almost as if she had popped the Aquabug macaron upgrade. Her thoughts were muddied. Popped the what? Ladybug dug her fingers into the ground beneath her- the bottom of the ocean? It hadn’t been split by tectonic plates like she had seen last time-
“It’s okay… I’m here, right here. Just breathe, my Lady.” The soothing voice of Chat Blanc made her almost ragdoll in relief. She felt a consistent rise and fall against her back that began to encourage her own lungs to follow suit. The wine-dark blue of the ocean was fading, and her head began to ache when her eyes focused in on the bright white of a car’s body paint. Ladybug shot her hands up to her ears again, whipping her head around hard enough to hear tick- crack! From her neck. She had to focus on anything else.
Stripes of orange and purple on fabric caught her attention. She should be annoyed–angry even–that Alya was putting herself in danger like this again, but she felt bogged down by fatigue. The familiar colors, along with the consistent breathing behind her softened the foggy claws dug into her brain.
“Ladybug?” A whisper near her ear made her jolt. She glanced back, finding recognizable cat-like eyes staring in worry.
“Chat,” was all she could breathe out before crumpling against him and hiding her face at the base of his neck. “You’re here.”
Chat Noir perked in surprise, slowly wrapping his arms around Ladybug. He half expected her to pull away, but she didn’t. Just trembled and murmured slurred, incoherent nothings about the color white.
You telling me Miraculous Ladybug's timeline is absolute donkey socks is the day I ascend.
You're telling me ALL of Seasons 1 and 2 (which, by the way, Season 1 starts at the start of the Parisian school year. September 1st, for 2015) is in the span of 4 months... Because we get the Christmas special at the end of Season 2.
But that's not possible (even with the argument that Santa Claws (the special name) could have happened in between Season 1 and 2 anyways), because Dark Cupid is a Valentine's day episode, which means that all the episodes before Dark Cupid's airing (The Origins duo, Lady Wifi, Stormy Weather (DONT even start on me with this one, beginning of summer my rear), Evillustrator, Princess Fragrance, Mr. Pigeon, Pixelator, Bubbler, Copycat, Simon Says, Timebreaker, and Rogercop, to be more specific) happened in the SIX month time frame between September 1, 2015 and Feburary 14, 2016. Which, unless France has an entirely different date for Valentine's day. Just. RAHHH
Either we missed a Christmas and Season 2's special is for 2016, or they just canonize the episode being from 2015 storywise, which is fine. On the basis that the story timeline isn't already jacked up because ALL SIX SEASONS APPARENTLY OCCUR OVER THE COURSE OF ONE SET OF BIRTHDAYS??? OR TWO??? MARINETTE'S STILL FOURTEEN?? SHE WAS 13 UNTIL HER BIRTHDAY IN SEASON 2. WE'RE.
It doesn't??? It???
Alix also turns 15 in season 1, Timetagger. I think Nathaniel turned 14 in Evillustrator? So? Either Alix was held back (more likely than I'd like to admit if Kim dared her to do it), or France casually groups up 13-15 year olds for classes? But I don't think that's the case from the 10 minutes of researching school systems and name translations for fic accuracy?
im melting im not even sobbing melting melting downnn
i cant fit heroes day in as septemeber 1, 2016 and its
upsetting me but also im blaming anyone but myself on the timeline/writing team of miraculous because i can to alleviate my stress and resign to making it, instead on january 1, 2017
because it's to kee p the celebrations from christmas and new years going ahahhh

Hey, I made a list of 48 songs I think would fit well being in-universe Kitty Section songs.
Sister Google doc with song explainations: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tN43Zzd0lCNJpMk1y25bxf5RqahohRZ0Cy6mTGYt9W4/edit?usp=sharing
I also wrote up a google doc with the song's possible underlying meaning/in-universe explanations for each entry (: I've also included an "Unreleased songs" tab for funsies.
I tried to keep all the songs well within what instruments their band has, but sometimes a violin might slip in lol. Sister Youtube Playlist
How interesting would Miraculous Ladybug be if the show was focused on stereotypes? No, not the stereotypes you're thinking of, but, and just imagine, a story exploring the Fox Trifecta of Marinette, Alya, and Lila.
"But Storyline? Marinette is good as is with the Ladybug Miraculous!" or, you may alternatively think; "Storyline! The Mouse Miraculous screams Marinette!!"
Not to say that they don't, however I personally think if the show writers leaned more into (this slow transition they've been doing with Marinette...) the Guile Hero that I think adds that much more seasoning to Marinette's character and story arc, they could very very easily parallel her with Alya and Lila's already established "Fox personas"
Alya's the fox that breaks out of the stereotypes of the malicious trickster. She is cunning and mischievous, yes, but her love and loyalty to her friends directs her moral compass back to truth; using her powers for the truth (loosely, squint along Season 6, I have yet to properly even touch it). She is still genuine to others and herself.
Lila's the fox that cares not for the pre-established stereotypes, and actively plays into them for her own benefit. While she's not sneaky per say, she maliciously lies to get what she wants; paints a picture of what others believe her to be and uses a fox's cunning to benefit herself regardless of what's actually true. She is not genuine with others, but is still genuine with herself regarding who she is and recognizing that, yeah. She's not a good person. Who cares?
Marinette's the fox that plays into the pre-established stereotypes, not for her benefit, but for the benefit of others. Alya's transparent, Lila's opaque, Marinette is translucent. She still is morally "good", using her cunning and tricky ingenuity to save the day, but she hides the information that she believes her friends or allies (or Paris) would be harmed by. No, she doesn't use her friends like puppets in her schemes, like Lila might, but she doesn't fully snap those strings away like Alya would. She's not genuine with others, but she isn't even genuine with herself.
I just think the show would be a lot more interesting if we explored the concepts (whether the kwamis actual concepts or concepts of the animals that folklore has assigned them) of the Miraculous a lot more via these common trope parallels.
We already love to dissect Lila-Alya parallels because "Oo, they're both represented as foxes power-wise and lore-wise!!" or even Marinette-Lila parallels regarding life experiences and their relations with others. So make all of them parallel. I think it's be a fun character analysis.
