A Dream Wedding Into a Reality
Bridesmaid Dresses 101
You’ve got your man, your maids and your mom cried when you ‘said yes to the dress!’ But now, what will your bridesmaids sport on your big day? You want them to feel beautiful and honored at your wedding because these are your GIRLS! They’ve been by your side through thick and thin and you wouldn't have it any other way on the day you say, “I do.” So, you want to choose a dress that reflects your wedding style and a combination of your tastes.
Tips and Tricks:
You need to come up with your wedding color scheme, set your wedding date, pick a venue and select your own wedding dress before your bridesmaid dresses are picked out. This will help you narrow down your options with color, and even the material & length of the dress depending on the season.
DO NOT give them a ‘Pinterest search’ free-for-all! You have specific things you are looking for and you aren’t a ‘Bridezilla’ for having a preference.
Include them in the decision, but don’t let their opinions overwhelm you. It might be smart to pick your top 3 bridesmaid dress options with someone you trust - like your mom or the maid of honor- and then get feedback on styles and pricing from all your bridesmaids. Encourage them to be honest, yet open-minded.
Be sure that your dress is distinctly different, yet complimentary to the bridesmaid dresses. You want to stand out as the bride, but also look great as a group.
Oftentimes, the bridal shop where you purchased your wedding dress will offer a discount on bridesmaid dresses if they are bought at the same place, so offer this as an incentive if you find the dress you love there.
If you are having a tough time finding dresses in stores or if your bridesmaids live all over the country you can always look into some online rental options such as Rent the Runway or Little Borrowed Dress.
Trendy Vs. Classic -- You can’t go wrong!
There are so many gorgeous wedding trends around bridesmaid dress combinations right now! We’ve seen Bride’s highlighting her Maid of Honor with a slightly different dress than the other bridesmaids and even mismatched combinations of colors, textures and cuts within the group. All are beautiful! But, regardless of if you want to jump in on these trends, or keep it classic with the same dress for all your maids - you simply can’t go wrong! This day will offer you, your groom, and all your friends and family so many memories and joy. Pick bridesmaid dresses that honor your style and preferences and make them feel as loved and beautiful as they truly are!

Brina
Rosabelle Manor Engagement Styled Shoot
We had a great time coming up with ideas for our photo shoot with Image Blue Studios at Rosabelle Manor. Our color scheme for the engagement party table was comprised of different shades of blue and hints of green.
A special thanks to our models Corey and Kaylene and Bel Fiore for the lovely bridesmaid dress.
Will you be my Bridesmaid?
So your best friend popped the question…GREAT! Now it is time for you to do the same and ask your favorite girls to join your bridal party. Don’t be a bore and ask them over the phone or text! No one does that anymore! Consider this a big deal, especially since they could be dishing out some money, for your big day! So get creative and show the girls, just how much they mean to you and how much it would mean for them to accept this position! Being a bridesmaid is an honor, so here are a few ways to pop your question!
1. Gift Box
Any bridesmaid would love a gift box full of bridesmaid and wedding day essentials. Make the box themed around your wedding and make it personal by writing a hand-written note to each girl.
2. Jewelry
A new piece of jewelry is a GREAT way to get your friends excited about the wedding! This could be a personalized piece or a necklace, bracelet or ring they may wear during the wedding. Trendy knot rings or bracelets are a cute and fun way to say “help me tie the knot! “
3. Cookies/ Cupcakes
Any girl loves a sweet treat AND if it is cute and personalized, how can you go wrong?! Think about making it to match your theme and colors of your wedding! How can they say no?
4. Robes/ Monogrammed Shirts
On your wedding day, most brides chose to get pictures taken during the “getting ready” process. What is cuter than all having matching outfits to get ready in? Ask your favorite girls with a cute robe or button up shirt, that is easy to get ready in, that won’t mess up hair or makeup, once ready!
5. Wine/Champagne
Are you looking for a good way to end the night out with the girls? Try asking them with a personalized bottle of their favorite wine or champagne! Make it even more fun with a personalized wine glass or drinking glass

Why your caterer is so important on wedding day
For the last few weeks, I have been working behind the scenes with one of our favorite caterers CenterCut Catering. Getting my hands dirty has let me venture past the realm of planning and allowed me to see the back bone that really keeps this industry going. I have always known the importance of really good food at a wedding, but the efforts the caterer puts into it was really eye opening.
Your caterer is one of the most importantaspects of your wedding.
a. They makesure your food is hot and ready on time. Without having a planner or someone to direct the flow of events this can become a difficult task. Especially when you have one person telling you the dinner will begin right after the first dance, but they under estimate the uncle who had a little too much to drink and winds up giving an inaugural speech than a brief toast.
b. They make sure everyone gets their food quickly. There is nothing worse than having everyone at your reception get up at the same time to wait in line for the buffet…I mean we all saw what happened in Atlanta during snowpacalpyse 2014. A good caterer like Center Cut Catering knows the worst guest is a hungry guest, so they will prepare the buffet line so that you don’t have a long wait or line out the door. They are used to preparing for functions of 200+ so a wedding is a piece of cake!
c. Catering is hard work! Your catering team is constantly prepping and cleaning in the kitchen and they’re on deck for whatever is next. Here are just some of the important things your catering team does on wedding day so please keep this in mind when you see the service charge and/or price for servers.
i. Your catering team: Drives to the venue, unloads the food, sets the tables with china, flatware and napkins, sets up the chaffing dishes, sets up and prepares the appetizers, gets the buffet ready for dinner, serves the guests, replenishes the buffet as needed, buses the tables, washes the dishes, cuts the cake, serves the cake, continue washing of dishes (my least favorite part) and begins packing up items to take home. Not to mention the chefs who have been cooking all day for the event, and if you order BBQ the good stuff starts slow roasting and smoking up to a day before the event.
ii. The price of gold: In past month’s we have seen gas prices drop but corn and meat prices continue to climb. Even with wholesale prices these commodities don’t come cheap, next time you’re at dinner look at the price of red meat or even chicken and remember the last time you paid $15 for a grilled chicken breast. ..plus tax and gratuity? Unless you are going to a fast-food chain for your wedding chances are your menu prices are going to start at about $30+ per head.
Destination Wedding: Whistler, Canada
Destination wedding, eh?
Thoughts of planning a destination wedding always leaves you day dreaming of toes in the sand, squeezing a lime into a Corona, blah blah blah, or standing atop a 35,000 foot high arbor in front of 400 eyes preparing to lay your vows on the line. A destination wedding to Whistler Canada isn’t your typical destination wedding, but from my eyes it provides an elegant and awe inspiring backdrop for your wedding. I know what you’re thinking who wants to get married in Canada where all you will find is the best maple syrup and moose blocking the road ways? I would!
As a Florida native I never saw myself venturing to such a cold part of North America, but rumor had it on Whistler Mountain the ski slopes melt in the summer and open up for mountain biking, and believe it or not you can actually wear a t-shirt at the base of a ski resort and feel quite comfortable.
While on vaca to Whistler I did the normal tourist thing and visited all the attractions, aka as a planner hunted down all the possible venues and find AMAZING locations for future brides. My first stop was a quick gondola ride up from Whistler’s town square to the top of Blackcomb Mountain, also known as Roundhouse Lodge (picture rationalizes how high this lodge was).
About the Roundhouse Lodge: (located at the top of Blackcomb Mountain)
Pro’s: It has multiple locations for a ceremony and reception locations with absolutely breathtaking views.
-There are no other mountaintop views comparable so there are plenty of great photo opportunities.
-You can host both your ceremony and reception at the top of the mountain.
Con’s: You may run into tourists depending on the time of your wedding.
-Your guests do have to ride the gondola to get up to your ceremony. There is no other route.
The photo below is what it looks like when you get to the top of the gondola. You can also access Peak2Peak from here.
Here is a photo of one ceremony location. In order to get to this location you go in to the lodge from the gondola.
This is one shot of me with the amazing view at the top of the mountain in the background!
Another stunning view of the mountain.
If the altitude from Roundhouse Lodge doesn't settle well you can always check out the local hotels that are at lower altitudes for your reception.
About Dusty’s:
Pro’s: It is located right at the base of the gondola so if you have your wedding at the top of the mountain your guests will easily be able to get right off and walk inside.
-They have hosted many weddings before and know what they are doing for out of town guests.
-Menu options will be a lot cheaper than that at the hotels.
Con’s: Dusty’s is casual bar restaurant during the day so it is a more relaxed/rustic environment in comparison to the hotels in the area.
My Top 2 Other Reception Locations Include The Westin and Hilton.
Pros’s: These are located at the base of the mountain in the heart of Whistler Village. About a 5 minute walk from the gondola.
-Hotels include just about everything in terms of service and wait staff making it easy to plan a reception.
Con’s: Wedding receptions at hotels can be a bit pricey especially when it comes to the menu.
If you decide to plan a destination wedding to Whistler, make sure you bring a photographer you trust. You don’t want to come all this way and climb that high to scroll through wedding photos and realize your photographer didn't capture exactly what you wanted! And if you are really wise you bring me along to help you plan it too.
Whistler Travel Tips:
-Rent a car from the airport if you want to be able to get around town and not just stay in one Village.
-If you are from the States your cell phone will not work J. There is WIFI in plenty of spots so you can utilize Facebook messenger or Imessage.
-Plan your clothing accordingly! Even in September it is still pretty chilly especially on top of the mountain!
-Go for a hike and enjoy the scenery!
Love, Karen
Top 5 2015 Wedding Trends
Here are some of the trends you will see a lot of this year!
Flowers: Centerpieces this year will be less structured and organic with lots of greenery. We will still see rustic elements incorporated into weddings, but it won’t be all burlap and mason jars…thank god. The designs for weddings will be leaning towards a vintage natural appeal.
Cakes: The naked cake will be making more appearances this year, giving a simple yet structured look for our new year. We are hoping to also see cakes with hints of gold to give a powerful yet simple feel. Small seems to be the norm, 2 tier cakes for the perfect photo op along with the single serving dessert bars appear to be replacing burlap and mason jars…fingers crossed.
Color: Marsala is Pantone’s color of the year. This deep red is a very royal and elegant color that we are excited to see in weddings this year. On another note it will be the theme for the Grand Opening of Rosabelle Manor, so anyone in the North GA area come out for our grand event to see how the professionals show off the new stars and strips of 2015.
Dress: Wedding dresses have taken leap back in time we are seeing lots of lace and capped sleeves. Be on the lookout for fitted dresses and buttons down the back for a curvy and elegant appearance.
Food: After all of your guests have danced the night away and the fairy god mother has come knocking, late night snacks will be introduced. Say hello to our little friends…mini chicken and waffles, sliders, or if guest have swung the night away, breakfast! Treat guest to these tasty trends and have a night for the record books.
The perfect spot for your destination wedding: Charleston (Part Two)
The perfect spot for your destination wedding: Charleston (Part Two)
By: Karen Gramlich
A few weeks ago, my boyfriend Scott and I traveled to Charleston for a weekend getaway. I have been a regular in Charleston over the past decade and wanted to share one of my favorite getaways with Scott. And since he had a free weekend from work, I promptly decided I needed a four-day weekend to mentally prepare for the upcoming wedding season.
I have noticed that Charleston has become THE vacation spot for sightseers, but it has also been gaining popularity among honeymooners and destination elopers. If you are from the Atlanta area and are looking for a destination wedding or even just a romantic honeymoon within four hours of the city, Charleston should peak your interest.
What I love most about Charleston is feeling of home, the warm summer breeze, scattered palm trees and the smell of the ocean on a mid-summer morning stroll. As cliché as that sounds, it brings me back to my roots with the ever so present historic charm and Southern feel. More importantly, especially for us, there are plenty of wonderful restaurants to choose from, as well as shopping on King Street.
As a wedding planner, I usually find myself dragging Scott to a plethora of venues while on vacation and Charleston has been nothing but a dream for my inner wedding planner with its marvelous plantation homes and historic sites. Not to mention the number of weddings and bachelor/bachelorette parties we counted in a single weekend.
Below is summary of our vacation stops and why we loved each. If you are traveling to Charleston or are interested in having your wedding there, please let me know and I will be happy to direct you to different venues!
Day 1:
Checked in to the Francis Marion Hotel
The Francis Marion is a nice hotel with a great location – it is located on King Street, which is within walking distance of everything and across the street from Marion Square. There is a lot of shopping and a laundry list of great restaurants located along King Street. On the weekends, there is typically a Farmer’s Market or something exciting going on in the square. This is also where the Bride Run ends if you ever wish to run the 10k that starts in Mt. Pleasant and ends in downtown Charleston.
Dinner at the Macintosh
Scott and I both had the “Mac,” an 8 oz. house ground CAB burger partnered with aged cheddar, nueske’s bacon and pecorino truffle frites. The truffle fries were absolutely delicious, and yes I ate every single one.
Day 2:
Walked to the Battery from our Hotel and wandered around the market
I am not one for the touristy part of things and have been to the market before, but we did walk through it on the way to lunch. If you aren’t looking for anything the market offers, at least try the legendary Charleston Iced Tea, which is quite refreshing roaming the market. The Battery also has a breathtaking view of Fort Sumter. Not to mention the rows of historical homes that make the morning run a bit more interesting.
Lunch at the Charleston Crab House
I have been to this restaurant multiple times, and I think they have the best crab in town. Scott and I shared the World Famous “Crab House” Crock Pot. It was Scott’s first time having crab, so I basically had to do all of the work for him. This is a great place to stop by if you go to the Battery in the morning and then here for lunch and drinks. The restaurant also has an upstairs patio that overlooks the historic market.
Dinner at Circa 1886
Located in the carriage house of the Wentworth Mansion, Circa 1886 is the ultimate fine dining experience in Charleston. The restaurant reminded me a lot of the St. Regis and being very private and downright expensive. The chef prepares the menu as a three-course dinner starting with an appetizer and ending with dessert. The crème brulee was fabulous, but surprisingly out of everything we ate that evening, the never-ending dinner rolls covered in an orange zest butter was by far my favorite.
The Wentworth Mansion actually serves as a hotel and can also host weddings for up to 50 guests. Ironically, as we arrived for dinner, we got a sneak peak of the ceremony.
Bulldog Ghost Tour
Following dinner, despite my fears, we went on a ghost tour that stopped by a church cemetery, Poogan’s Porch and the old military jail. Poogan’s is actually a great restaurant to get breakfast, that’s if you can snag reservations, but on a Sunday it’s nearly impossible. The tour was fun, but I was more interested in the three weddings going on at some of the other venues as we walked around the city.
One of the venues that looked amazing and I want to stay at next time is the Mill’s House. As we walked by, they were preparing to do the bride’s sparkler sendoff accompanied by horse drawn carriage.
Day 3
To take a break from downtown, Scott and I ventured over to Mt. Pleasant for breakfast before going to tour Boone Hall Plantation. We ate at the Fish House, which sits right at the bottom of the Cooper River Bridge and has a great view of downtown Charleston and the water.
Boone Hall
Boone Hall has an impressive entrance as you drive down the hundred-year lane of oaks leading up to the mansion. The only disappointing part of our tour was that we didn’t get to see many rooms within the house because the current owners still occupy the home. Boone Hall also does weddings, but unfortunately we were unable to get more information on their pricing that day.
Dinner at Hymans Seafood
The service at this restaurant was wonderful and one of the owners even stopped by our table to see if his restaurant was living up to its reputation. Several pounds of crab and a couple drinks later we were pretty “crabbed out.”
Rue De Jean
This was such a charming French restaurant that we stopped at late at night for dessert. This restaurant also serves as a wedding venue and has a separate events space next door.
Day 4
Early Bird Diner
On our way out, we stopped at Early Bird Diner where the early bird certainly gets the worm! There was quite a wait to enjoy breakfast, but the chicken and waffles were absolutely amazing. The parking and small town diner feel makes it feel like, well for lack of a better term -hole in the wall, but don’t let that fool you. It was the best breakfast of the trip.
Magnolia Plantation
This was a more hands-on type of plantation to visit because you were able to go in all the rooms of the house during the tour. Magnolia had gardens, a petting zoo for rescued wildlife and this place also performs weddings!
The perfect spot for your destination wedding: Charleston
Charleston, South Carolina is a popular destination wedding location for Southeast brides as it’s both beautiful and remotely close to home. Because Winey Blonde Events Co. has had several brides interested in hosting their wedding in the charming town of Charleston, we thought planning a trip was the perfect opportunity to do some research and soak up all that the little town has to offer!
First stop: Lowndes Grove Plantation
WOW – this location is absolutely breathtaking! Picture your guests arriving at this gorgeous plantation home built in 1786. Not only is the house beautiful, it is located on the water and (oh my gosh) the view is incredible! Lowndes Grove can accommodate 600 guests, making it the perfect spot for larger weddings that cannot be accommodated at most venues. I have to admit, this wedding venue is our favorite.
Additionally, Lowndes Grove has a separate venue managed by the same group right next door. The River House is great for smaller weddings and events, as it accommodates up to 100 guests. The benefit: a smaller, more intimate wedding, while still having the amazing river views.
After touring the two venues on the river, we traveled to King Street in Downtown Charleston for the next venue.
Next up: The William Aiken House
While doing research prior to heading to Charleston, we came across the William Aiken House. We loved it right away, but when we found out it had been featured in one of our favorite movies, The Notebook, we loved it even more!
From first glance, the venue doesn’t seem big enough for larger functions, however The William Aiken House can hold up to 500 guests. This venue is specifically for weddings and events – it is not open for public tours, which is nice. This is definitely a little hidden gem in Charleston. With that being said, you still have curious people and fans, who are pressing their faces up to the windows to try to get a glimpse inside the house.
Also on the property are the guest suites (see below). These are available for overnight stays, and you can also host a ceremony or reception in front of them. It’s like two venues in one location. We can’t get enough of the guest suites! Historical and quaint, what more could you ask for?
Lastly, we went right next door to the American Theater. Again, we knew this location from our love of The Notebook! This venue is a prime spot for a welcome party, rehearsal dinner and wedding ceremony and reception – totally different from the other venues above, but yet so unique!
We want to thank Jackie Willis with Patrick Properties Hospitality Group for giving us the grand tour and showing us around the wonderful properties.
While in Charleston, we decided to check out some popular restaurants and locations. Of course, we had to go to City Market, Folly Beach and explore the endless options for fresh seafood. You can’t go wrong with Charleston. Now, who’s ready to plan a destination wedding?
Stay tuned: Charleston trip round two coming soon!
