I am an architectural historian, former National Park Service historian, architectural photographer, and licensed tour guide who has been giving these

,first Irish Catholic congregation in Washington,DC "St. Patrick's Parish was established in 1794,primarily to meet the needs of Irish immigrants at work on the White House and the Capitol Building" (Father Paul Liston). Beautifully proportioned and elegantly detailed house with Palladian window Notice the elegant three part window on the second floor,which is called a Palladian window, and the pseudo Palladian window in the dormer.  Named after the 16th century Italian architect Palladio.

President James Monroe’s other Washington,DC residence

As Secretary of State and then as President, he lived here with his wife Elizabeth (1811-September 1817).  The Federal Period house was built in 1806.  For nearly 100 years it has been the home of the Arts Club.

It was designated a National Historic Landmark as it had also been the domicile of Cleveland Abbe who founded the US Weather Bureau.
