“let’s go,” she pulls them forward, because unlike her desire, she’s been martyred into too many shapes to be like the other girls. she can’t stay in one place, can’t ever stop looking over her shoulder. io looks up, a grin finally splitting on her features. “they haven’t called today.” they, as in the ones that mutually dictate them. as in the midas-fisted men that own her and give less than a moment’s notice when they want her body laid out for their consumption. it’s a triumph - the promise of having the night to themselves. “my mothers say hello, by the way,” she adds secondly, turning forward once more. “they said they’d like to see you again soon and complain i don’t have you over enough.”

spring never comes for him.

the city is always cold even on its hottest day. kavasch is their living hell and its done well to pit him in the dark. for in this broken time, there is never sounds of salvation.

even now as he stalks the streets, masks off with official duties over for the night, he keeps to himself, steps brisk and head low. his usual authority vanishes and he’s not looking for anymore trouble for the day. he wishes only to see her face -- the only time he sees glimmers of summer in her warmth. 

when she comes to him, they are automatic, hands in hands, lips on lips. she is an entity he’d never anticipated in his life where love is an enigma in this forlorn corner of the universe. in truth, he doesn’t even know how to label his affections. they will never be enough, after all, to be confined by stereotypes of fireworks and heart symbols. he only wishes she will always smile at him like this.

“someone’s eager.” low voice resonates with a slight chuckle, teasing confirmed with another press of kiss to her cheeks. he’s never been one suited for such docility but she brings out the good in him, the desire to do well with her. their reality always looms over their shoulders but he does his best to protect her on his own, even if only for a hour, even if only for a minute.

“ i guess that makes me selfish if i only want to see you. ” he teases through the truth. he knows how much her mothers mean to her and for that, he will always be kind. yet as much as family means to him, he is also still, on the other hand, unaccustomed to considering so many his own. he has lived as one half for so long that he doesn’t know of any other way. 

his hand slips from hers if only to to wrap around the slim of her waist, gravity pulling them into each other. he likes the feeling of her pressed against his side, under his skin and all his. close is never close enough when it comes to her. “ i got a surprise for you. ”

as they round the corner, he leads her to the spoils of his day. confiscated or borrowed, he doesn’t care to distinguish. all he knows is that he has the keys to the sleek light cycle and while he can’t take her to the stars, they can at least get as far from here as possible.

she’s always been half girl, half something else. it’s been said more than once that the doctors that spliced genes into sora’s genetic coding choose too many cats, because for all intents and purposes, it seemed to read in her everyday choices and actions that felinity was far too obvious. so maybe it was the cat in her, the ancient prowling thing; maybe it was the deaths rebirths of self she had already endured; or perhaps it was something else entirely, a thing inscribed into her bones like direct message from the universe, that made her the way she was.

in the end, it doesn’t matter. she is what she is, and she sits alone, in the middle of a late-night hour everyone forgets on a high-up porthole she never should have been able to reach.

her gaze departs itself to him occasionally, turning over the still-familiar solidness of his build along with the unnatural repose its taken. he used to be able to rest in beds.

sora keeps the room consistent in how it’s meant to be: silent. even as she descends and crosses the room, there’s no noise from her bare soles across the metallic floor, making towards the hallway that will take her to bed. she passes seungwon with casually forward-facing walk and the kind of devout lack of thought that means she’s actively trying to forget something. she pauses steps later, head half-pivoted as if she’s heard something (the truth: she has. it’s his breath).

she doesn’t mean for it to be kindness, the blanket she pulls of the opposite couch and drapes over his body. she does it gently because she doesn’t want to be caught, not because she doesn’t want him to wake up. she doesn’t think about the fact that those two things are the same.

he is broken pieces, lost places, cut open, blood pouring into the DARK. 

each second drags on with every shaking breath where tremors travel down his spine and it is still not enough. nightmares possess him and again, he is victim to the night. 

he comes to only under her touch, brief feather light somehow translating to stormy thunderbolts.  

seungwon gasps for air as if he is suffocating, hand grabbing her wrist in sheer instinct as if he’s dying. his throat scratches like rough sandpaper and he is still hazed in the lingering terrors of his sleep. she is sanctuary when the world spins beneath his feet and tonight, he is afraid. 

“ chaewon. ” his voice shakes like it once had when he was ten, when blood and horror only belonged to the movies on the screen. “ i dreamed i lost her. i-- ” he loses his words as if they were men on the battlefield. cold sweat drains him of any comfort, any sanity and he is not himself. 

fingers dig into her flesh, death grip if only to stop the tremors of his own. he needs her. he needs this. in a losing battle against his trauma, he knows only HER who had once kept him afloat.

the universe is rich with stories and cultures of those unknown. so within these last few years, he has discovered how infinite it all can be, how insignificant his own life is. they are just another star in the galaxy and as they fly through the dark of time and space, he is reminded yet again. 

wouldn’t it have been nice if she were here to see it all? 

but he is pulled back before black holes consume him whole. she arrives and she is sugar sweet -- though he may be confused by the treats upheld in the platter. soft and ever softer, she is all he craves to TAINT. 

“ is that right? ” he relaxes into the mould of his chair, lazy smirk eternally etched into his features. “ is this your way of getting into my good graces? ” he isn’t easy, but she already is. such pleasantries aren’t enough, but he will indulge. 

“ shall i give you a reward? ” and his implications are wicked but harmless. this is always nothing but meaningless fun, a MOCKERY of romantic passes and filthy processions. he picks up his selection of the sweets and fulfills his cravings.

it is common knowledge that the first mate of vanta makes a bed out of anywhere that is not a bed, a return to his origins, where the asphalt was all he had ever known. many call it his quirk, few know it as an escape.

but redemption is never easy, even when he’s on the run. sin always catches up to him and today again, he is CONSUMED by the night. she is always there, every detail never forgotten. clarity is his punishment, a reminder of what had once been, of what could have been.

personality :  ▸ snarky, jaded, cynical, charismatic, confident, decisive, casual aka he fucks around and jokes around a lot with the crew but is definitely one of those people that people stay intimidated of even though he’s so casual. :^)
