Gender Critical
āFemaleā and āWomanā are both important words that have a place in our society that have unfortunately had their meanings destroyed.
Female is an adjective referring to āthe sex that can bear offspring or produce eggs, distinguished biologically by the production of gametes (ova) which can be fertilized by male gametesā.
Woman is a noun referring to āan adult human femaleā.
A few years ago due to the increase in people (men) saying things like āThese females...ā or āFemales are...ā liberal feminists suddenly decided to get rid of the word female altogether rather than reinforce its use as an adjective and not as a noun. This has led to liberal feminists now saying things like āWoman doctorā or āWoman presidentā which is absolutely shudder-inducing.
I agree we should not refer to women as āfemalesā but I donāt think the solution is to replace the word in itās entirety.
It also completely removes girls from the picture. Girls are not women as they are not adults. Now you can argue that a girl canāt become a doctor, only a woman can, but things that are age neutral like athletes should be referred to as female athlete, not woman athlete.
This push to remove female has become increasingly a TRA issue. As men who identify as women can do only that, identify as a woman. They are unable to identify as or become female.
I donāt think itās fair to women and girls to lose our words and to lose our meanings based off what men want and what men realize they canāt have.
