— ❝ Moonlight ❞
( . . )
His name is Mark. “Mark… you can call me Jiyeon.” She also smiles as reciprocation. He’s being friendly so the brunette doesn’t see why she has to act distant. She’s only a person who’s afraid of approaching people first, not an anti-social chic. “Yes I just moved in, about… a week.” At the same time, she wonders why he’s curious about her. “How long have you been here?”
He could easily see the nervousness in between those lines. Is she again one of those socially awkward people or is she just usually shy like that? He couldn’t figure out who she really is, and when he did gave a thought about it he could only remember all those weird ghost stories his brother told him. She could not possibly be a ghost; the possibility will be so low especially when they are in a place like this. Mutant, she is one of us, he reassured himself.
“Jiyeon!!!”, he sounds a bit too excited, “you’ve got a pretty name, but you’re prettier”, he gives a firm tap on her shoulders, his smile never ceasing to leave his face. he always loved meeting new people, getting to know them and establishing bonds no matter how they turn out to be. Even though he has this very bad habit of judging people and making speculations, he still has more allies and he wonders how. How in this earth could one tolerate such a stubborn, judgmental and crazy kid like him? Will she be able to tolerate him? Because he is sure going to be a little too much for a shy someone like her.
“a week? How come I never saw you before?”, he wonders, gently rubbing the back of his neck. “I’ve been here for a while, I’m the librarian so you can find me there whenever you feel like seeing me.” He tries to tone down the excitement in his voice, he didn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable, no, nope.
“were you perhaps sneaking out?”, he throws in another question. “can I join you? We can have a little camp fire, and I have some snacks too!!!”, he smiles holding the pack of marshmallows on his hand.

"My oh my ~ Is this how you treat a lady? How ungentlemanly." He tsked, voice sounding considerably low for a female, but not so low that he’d be mistaken for some transgendered male. He had practised, increasing his pitch and all. If you wanted to play the part, you had to be convincing no? All this hard work, just so he could mess around with a few heads. He really enjoyed it and in any case, to him, it was worth it.
mark snorts almost instantly when he hears yet another name he could not approve at any cost. why do jaebum always have to come up with such names, pyromaniac!? why not pyro? or the self titled human torch. he lets out a small squeal when he thinks of the name he had kept for himself because even though it sounded lame he thought it was pretty cool.
he looks at the other person in disbelief, like what in the world just happened. is jaebum fooling around with him or was he being fooled this entire time? he jumps in confusion, as he closely checks out the person in front of him, is she even real? he looks closely to find out any loopholes, if it was a trick jaebum was playing on him and if it wasn’t he sure is going to freak out. “that was a good one, jaebum. but you can’t fool me especially when i know what you’re capable of”, he puffs his cheeks in frustration. mark already knows how mischievous jaebum could be, like it was pretty much evident from his face alone and their interactions of course. mark is playful and fun loving but he would never be in par with jaebum’s level of mischievousness.
“I hate you so much that I feel like making a barbeque out of you right now”, he sighs, running his fingers through his hair. is he accepting his defeat? well, not fully but how he wished he could counter attack that one with a smart move but he couldn’t and this strikingly alluring womanly figure was only distracting him slowly poking holes into his armor of innocence that he has been donning for so long.
Mark’s hips don’t lie…and they’re screaming in agony.
— ❝ Moonlight ❞
( . . . )
Her eyes continue wandering. Unknowingly, she finds herself stopping by a window. There’s something that holds her back from walking away.
Moonlight.
he couldn't sleep, it wasn't something new for him and he was slowly getting used to this habit. when the night falls and the darkness slowly creeps in he would always find himself walking his way out; to feel the chilly cold air slowing and softly blowing his face. it brought him the feeling of serenity which he couldn't find during the day and in between all the hustles and bustles of his quite so busy life.
following this activity slowly became a part of his daily routine and he would make sure not to missed it out any day despite of how tired he was. today was no exception. he was on his way out when he sees someone from a distance. he couldn't really get a proper view of the person but he did figure it out to be a female someone. he froze on his steps. from his arrival to the institute and until now he didn't ever spot a single female so who was she now and what was she doing around at this hour? he looks closer to get a better view of her; she was beautiful, the way the moonlight was highlighting her features so delicately, he was in an awe for a moment. then, he notices her tail. and he wonders again, is she a ghost or a mutant?
there's only one way he could find that out. slowly tiptoeing to the direction she was standing, he stands by her side looking at the moon before looking at her. "beautiful, isn't it???", he smiles cheekily at her.
"are you new here? what's your name? I'm mark!!!"
Mark’s lip bite.
In which Mark doesn’t quite understand the purpose of the mission….

"I’ll love to show you how cool and sexy I can be while using my abilities, but lets take it slow now eh? Let’s have your turn first. What is Mr Judgemental’s mutant gift?" He beamed.
mark swears to himself that if he does not dismiss this oh so friendly argument of theirs from his side first it is probably going to lead somewhere he doesn’t want to see himself in. he just smiles but with a blank expression on his face. he isn’t sure how he is feeling right now. angry? no. sad? no. tired? maybe a little. he sighs heavily, feeling older than his actual age but he still had the energy needed to deal with jaebum a little more. “we will find out about that later, I won’t be quick to drawing conclusions this time especially not when it concerns you,” he speaks firmly, stopping on his tracks for a brief moment just so that he could look at the one person who could handle him so well that sometimes it scared him to have jaebum by his side.
hHe gets a little startled from what jaebum delivers to him and it doesn’t takes him long to give him the what was that for look. “are you knocking off a sarcasm with a sarcasm? so expected of you and for a moment I thought you’d really appreciate it as a compliment. you’re better than I thought?”, he chuckles, ignoring jaebum’s face because he isn’t sure if he wants to punch it with a friendly bro fist or just copy paste it. but he is sure he wants to keep him close.
“cool and sexy!?”, he snorts giving jaebum a disapproving look. well, he will agree that jaebum is a pretty cool guy but he still have to think about the sexy part. he laughs, sometimes his own thoughts embarrassed him and the only way he could stop showing in on his face was to shake it off with a squeaky laugh.
“mr. judgmental? do you always come up with awful nicknames?” he asks before moving away from jaebum, keeping a fair distance between them. he extends out his hand, a subtle spark of flame lighting from the tips of his fingers and slowly engulfing his entire palm he eventually creates a huge ball of bright flame which slowly envelopes his entire arm but he stops just before his entire body is covered into a fiery plasma. he clenches his fist and the entire flame extinguishes.
“it’ll be a chaos in here if we go further than this”, he swings his arm around jaebum’s neck, almost to the point of dragging him out of the institute building as soon as possible. they were heading to the beach as mark said earlier, a cool place for hangout and now he even has a company to keep him entertained. he couldn’t be any more happier.
Bookworms // Mark & Taekwoon
( . . . )
"It’s okay," he starts hesitantly, "I’ve learned a few neat tricks since coming here, and the combat classes help." Taekwoon smiles a little. The professors here were very accommodating when it came to helping students find out what else they could use their abilities for.
mark wouldn't miss the little details, those from the body language to the facial expressions not when the conversation was one on one. he'd take note of every single one of them just because it helped most of the time, especially when the other person he is interacting with isn't as open to expressing themselves as he is. this isn't something new for him, he has seen such people like taekwoon before and even though he has a little less liking to one sided talking he didn't mind this time. he should give the other man a little more time to open up.
oh!!!
his face brightens up a bit, maybe it can help him too. until now his mutation is in control and he does know a few tricks but he hasn't seen its full potential yet and he isn't sure if it can go beyond that. who knows, he bites his lips as those thoughts disappear immediately from his mind. he looks at taekwoon, his hand gently tapping on his chin and if the other male really pays attention to the way mark is looking at him then he can easily see what to expect the next. of course, mark is full of questions and he isn't stopping until he sees the need to. call him rude, stubborn, nosy whatever you want to nothing will keep him from knowing what he wants to know.
"you're not as lonely as you seem", he speaks softly. "although you do give the impression of being a loner", he chuckles, followed by a slight shrug.
"but don't you think it'd be better if you see what's around you than what's inside you?"
mark being the perfect example of the student in class you never wanna be stuck with during a big project
Bookworms // Mark & Taekwoon
Taekwoon had to pause momentarily to fully understand the question. He shrugged, “I don’t have anywhere else to go.” His eyebrows pulled together a little, “And I wanted to be able to control my… ability better.” Taekwoon was lucky he had finally found out about the Institute when he had. Otherwise, he was almost certain that he would either be dead in a dirty alleyway, or completely lost to Belial.
He placed the book back on the shelf where he had found it and looked over at the librarian curiously. Taekwoon had a feeling he wouldn’t be reading it until his next visit to the library. “You’re relatively new here, why are you here?” It was a blunt way of asking, but he hadn’t really figured out how to ask that question in “polite” terms yet.
it was the same for everyone else here. they were here either because they had nowhere to go or because they wanted to hone their skills better. it was the same for mark but he belonged solely to the later group of folks who were here to be better if not the best. he softly taps the other man's shoulder with a small smile on his face. it was the best that they were here for good.
"why am i here? i am not entirely sure", he laughs ruffling his hair. "i was causing too much trouble back at home and i didn't want to go to the school there either", he speaks confidently although it was a lie. he doesn't want to tell anyone why he was here for especially not when he just joined the institute not too long ago. "i am scared i'd be doing the same thing here but i can't help it", he shrugs. it's better being here with people like him than being back in sori, completely restricted of the freedom that he always craved for.
"so how is it going? are you learning to control your gift better than before?", he puts a little stress on that particular word while asking even though he isn't entirely sure if the man takes his ability as a gift just like how he does. he just hopes that it isn't the latter.

"Aww ~ You think I’m cool? How flattering ~ I’m a man of the light. Everything photon is under my command, is my underling ~" He replied dramatically, just because. He was Im Jaebum after all.
all mark could do was throw a glare at jaebum for a brief moment before heaving a deep sigh, is it he who got his calculations wrong or is it his precious friend who he wants to blame for how messed up his mind is right now? relax mark relax, he breathes in and out softly responding to that sarcastic smirk with a small smile. he is glad that he doesn’t easily break out to anyone even though he hates losing even if it’s the simplest conversation or just a friendly debate like this one.
“you need to be a little better than you are now, at least with me. because I am not buying any of your shit”, he speaks cooly, although he can clearly see in between the lines what jaebum was trying to say. It won’t work on him though. he has already been through a lot and he will most probably take whatever jaebum serves him just fine. that’s why he isn’t scared of anyone, he isn’t scared of pushing all the buttons wrong and getting into trouble, after all that’s just how he grew up learning about people. who to keep close and who to stay away from. and about jaebum? he isn’t entirely sure about him but he hopes they can get along just fine, given the case that he learns to be a little less judgmental about him.
and as expected from jaebum, mark was already ready for that reaction from him. he just nods with a soft oh!! from his mouth. however, he completely cracks up soon. “man of light? how uncool is that”, he shrieks looking at jaebum. “could have come up with some better name, jeez and I thought you were actually cool”, his eyebrows twitches as he speaks.
“so how does it works? mind a little demonstration to cover up the uncoolness of the man of light?” he laughs gently although he had no intention of mocking him.
the innocent bliss of a five year old
Bookworms // Mark & Taekwoon
( . . . )
"Yeah, I’m a student." He was probably one of the older students there, at 24. Taekwoon thought for a heartbeat before shaking his head. "I’ve never gone to school before. I’ve always heard other children talk about how horrible school was, but I find this all fairly exciting, actually." While other children in Heukyang were busy complaining about school and assignments, Taekwoon was usually lurking in the shadows, working as a mule for the underground mafia and gangs, moving illegal shipments of whatever from one end of the city to the other.
Interesting.
He nods, well that was very fascinating for him to hear and it’s no surprise that this is most probably the only place where he can find many more such fascinating things to hear and see. And if only he gets to know then a little better he will be able to quench down the curiosity that keeps rising every now and then. Getting to know someone a little better won’t hurt, right? He smiles to himself with the thought of having to befriend someone so mysterious. He swears he caught a little glimpse of the other guy smiling, he cannot be wrong but he isn’t sure either. Mark is very much into details and everything before coming to a conclusion so he won’t say he managed to put his company at ease but the guy at least brighten up his day a bit.
Oh!!
Mark until now isn’t sure why he hates school, he has no particular reasons for that and he isn’t bothered to find one either. “Well, if you’re speaking of this school, it is good no indeed it’s better than all those other schools we got in tlow”, he grins. “so what took you so long to get to the school? Like I can already guess why most of us are here for, what could it be about you?”, and there goes the ever so curious mark again, just being so obvious like always. He is lucky that his baby face most of the times saves him from getting punched for being a little too nosy and he isn't just going to stop once his attention is caught.
