Excerpt from X. the Novel
Preston walked over and pulled Tamra into his arms. He attempted to kiss her lips, but she pulled away quickly.
“No, no, no, I need like a toothbrush or something, I have morning breath and it’s horrifying,” she pleaded.
Preston snickered. “Yeah, I have a travel backup that I’ve never used.” He led Tamra to the bathroom, gave her the appropriate toiletries, and pulled out his phone. “While you do that, I’ll order some food.”
After accomplishing their respective tasks, the two met back at the bed. Preston was sitting on the edge. He pulled Tamra down into his lap, and wrapped her legs around his waist. “Food will be here in like forty,” Preston informed her.
“Cool.”
“Hey, can I kiss you now?”
“Mm-hm.” Tamra smiled. He brushed his mouth softly against hers, catching her bottom lip in between both of his. Preston’s hands wandered down and around Tamra’s back, resting on both sides of her waist, pulling her closer into him. They continued to move their lips, as Tamra gripped the tops of his shoulders.
“Ahh,” he sighed, abruptly pulling his face away.
“What?” Tamra asked self-consciously.
“Nothing… we should probably go downstairs though.” Tamra looked at him curiously. He groaned in frustration and rested his head against her chest. “Honestly if we keep going like this, I’m gonna end up fucking you, and I don’t want you to start your day off having another panic attack,” he explained.
“Oh.” Her face fell.
“Hey,” he said softly, picking his head back up to kiss her neck. “How about we work our way up to it. I mean we have the whole day. Maybe the more you get comfortable with me, the less likely we’ll have a repeat of before. That fair?”
“You really want to spend the whole day with me?” she asked skeptically.
“Of course, I do,” he chuckled.
