About The Blog: This is an ask and rp blog for Aesop Carl, the Embalmer! (RP leaning, but I can do quick asks every so often!) Posts will mostly be written responses, but occasionally I may do drawings depending on the interaction/question!
Rules: Please keep asks and RPs SFW. I will touch on darker themes, as I feel it's important to be conscious of such things when writing these characters and their experiences. These will be tagged to the best of my ability. I can also tone things down if asked, please let me know! I'll try to find a way to make sure the RP is enjoyable for everyone involved! (Note: Aesop is a character with many heavy themes that I cannot ignore due to the nature of his character. These include medical themes/imagery, child grooming and its effects into adulthood, ableism, death and serial murder (with how he tries to convince people to die too, suicide and ideation thereof as well as discussions of such themes will also come up), and not understanding the act of giving OR receiving consent. I fully understand these themes are difficult for people! I also expect these to be brought up frequently enough that if these are things that are likely to affect you negatively, this blog might not be the best for you to interact with. Don't worry, I won't take it personally! I fully understand if you need to block, unfollow, or otherwise make sure you don't see all this for your own mental health. At the end of the day, there's real people behind the characters we write, and the real people need to be prioritized.) Hate mail is not welcome. It will not be replied to. I am a multishipper, both in terms of being willing to write multiple relationships and in terms of having multiple characters I enjoy picturing with any given character! I have preferences and leanings, but I am more than willing to discuss these. Feel free to reach out in DMs! (My Aesop is... not very good at figuring out romance, and is confident such things are impossible for someone like him. So, it will be a slow process, to say the least. He needs to know the person somewhat well, and feel comfortable opening up.)
About The Character: Aesop Carl, the Embalmer 21 yrs old 5'9" (177cm) Has not processed the... situation with Jerry Carl. He's doing a whole lot of denial and immersing himself in his work. If he thinks something is for another's own good, he will do it. This is the belief at the root of his killing, in my interpretation. He cares, and he knows things hurt. So if he can make that all stop, it'll be better, right? (Ignore how he still is upset over Y.R's death and is trying to tell himself this and how it is decidedly not working.) Knew Jerry from at least a short time before his mother's death, and knows that she trusted him and was friends with him. (This does not help with matters involving The Grooming. Mother trusted him, she was right to, he is a kind man, right?) Sat nearby and handed him his tools before he was taken in, started learning the trade of embalming very shortly after. Has been around death for a long time, even before Jerry. His mother did not dismiss him while arranging her affairs, he met Jerry before his mother passed and he was aware of her sickness and condition, so did not want to put more pressure on her. (He may not understand why she clung to life so dearly, but... he couldn't stand to make things harder by telling her how school was going.) Is very, very unskilled in interpreting people's expressions and moods and how they speak. He's been isolated for most of his life, and in the period before that, socializing was difficult in its own way (read: surviving children is a nightmarish feat and he barely scrapes by). He says he decided to go with Jerry when his mother passed. But how much of it was his own choice, really? He was a child who was absent a caregiver, and Y.R. had someone in mind already. Aesop is very easily swayed into choices if it means pleasing others. He's learned a lot of this from Jerry, but it wasn't the only cause. (Other things he's learned from his time with Jerry include that he has to be perfect in order to be worth anything, any attention at all; that only the dead will not judge or abandon him; and that he needs to be obedient to survive. The lessons may not have been taught explicitly, but he sure learned them.) Experiences sensory overload quite easily. This influences many things, including how he struggles with many textures when eating, the kinds of fabrics he can wear for long periods, and the need to retreat from loud spaces as soon as possible. He also likes keeping himself covered up in general: it feels safe to be covered up, to have himself hidden well. Being perceived (and therefore judged) is highly uncomfortable for him. Common stims include pulling his gloves, flicking the latches of his makeup case, and wringing his hands.

(I am lucky to be writing someone who shares similar struggles with socializing in the world, but I know that any communication form and any way people want to say this or that thing can be confusing for one or both parties, and/or we think the same thing in different ways!)
