âNo, no, no!! Youâre not getting me into that creepy house!â
âCome on, just for a minute. Easiest 50$ youâll have ever made,â they tried to encourage the other, pulling on their arm a little. âWhatâs the worse that could happen?â

âDonât you think youâre being a little dramatic, sweetie?â Dela replied with a little lopsided grin. She moved closer to the other, putting reassuring hands on her shoiulders. âI promise iâll protect you. I took self-defense for three months.â
Adore sighed and relaxed her shoulders as Dela touched her and promised her protection. With a thoughtful pout, she glanced at the house before looking at Dela once more.Â
âOkay, fine. Shit. I ainât no chicken! Iâll stab whoever tries to fuck with me! Letâs fuckinâ do it!â Adore declared with gusto as she hooked her arm with Delaâs and marched towards the house.
âThere she is!â beamed Dela as they headed to the creepy house. She wasnt normally one to get into stupid bets but when Shangela had dared her to go spend an hour in the house for 100$, the dark haired girl felt compelled to do so. How Adore got mixed up in the story was a little muddled but as they both reached the door, Dela was glad to have someone with her. Just in case. âWill you tell my mother that I love her if I donât make it out?â
âBitch, donât do all that, donât do all that,â Adore whispered harshly, but the shrug of her shoulders said that she would tell Delaâs mum should anything happen - and should Adore survive. She wasnât at all happy about Shangelaâs daring now when Adore stood with her hand on the doorknob nor that she was dumb and said she would tag along to somehow impress Bianca. How her stupid ass had thought this would impress that girl Adore couldnât any longer figure out.Â
Adore twisted the door open, and the hinges screeched as the door got pushed open. Darkness, dust, and the smell of time standing still hit them and Adore tried to act brave and tough as she sauntered inside.Â
âIâm wearing a cross. Like. So you know. In case we need it, but Iâm, like, unable to move or whatever. âs around my neck.â Adore patted at her at her chest bone, where under her clothes her crucifix rested.Â
âSo, like, what we gonna do?â
While Dela didnât necessarily believe in haunted house and small town lore, she had to admit that up close, the old mansion had an eerie and creepy quality to it that even she couldnât ignore. Her first step in was maybe a little more hesitant than she had hoped for.Â
âItâs okay,â she replied, rummaging through her purse a little and producing two objects out of it. âI have salt for demons and ghosts... and a taser for humans. A girl has to be prepared you know.â
