Mara stared at him for several moments. “You took too long.”
“Fuck off.” He answered. “It would’ve taken less time if you’d run like I said instead of making me worry about you and get distracted. You would’ve been perfectly safe.”
“I’m not some fragile flower, boy. I could have taken him meself if you hadn’t interfered,” she argued.
“Forgive me for showing up the minute I heard a scream. It’s instinct okay.” Chase snapped before walking away.
Mara shouted in frustration and anger. She threw her branch directly at him.
Chase dodged and climbed a nearby tree where he sat and gathered his thoughts.
She sat on a nearby bench. “Who the hell do you think you are?” she muttered. “What an arsehole.”
Chase stayed in the tree for the rest of the night.
