First I am going to say that I was inspired to make this post by a book that Donald Miller wrote called A Million Miles in a Thousand Years. It isn’t as famous as Blue Like Jazz, but it says a lot about life and writing at the same time.
Many RP plots quickly become stagnant be it in a 1x1 or a group. Often people claim to have lost their muse when they don’t know what to do with the character, or they are bored writing mundane activities. There is a very good reason why plots stagnate if you try to write the way you live, but are often overdramatic if you force them. This post will address this issue. When you’re reading it keep one thing in mind: much of what I’m saying about story is applicable to real life. This is a guide.
