God is the God of many, many, many chances. He is infinite with an infinite grace and mercy, His love is unbounded and no sons and daughters that He loved will not be accepted once more. Look back and remember His old ways, remember how Israel provoked the anger of the LORD. But still God rescued them from the hand of Egyptians and brought them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, their promise land—a land flowing with milk and honey (Exodus 3:8). Though a generation who knew neither the LORD nor what he had done for Israel (Judge 2:10) God made a move to show Himself through raising judge and prove that He had compassion on them whenever they cried out to Him (Judge 2:18).
Don’t mind the condemnation of our enemy but open your hearts and ears and hear His loving voice wanted you to go back to His arms. No matter how intense and dirty the things you had made He will forgive you. Sin is sin, no small and no big. The world may talk about you and judge you and not believe you again because of the sins you made but remember that God will see your sins as white as snow though they are like scarlet; they will be like wool though they are red as crimson (Isaiah 1:18) as you repent and accept His forgiveness because He said on His word, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. ” (1 John 1:9).
Stand up once more and declare how His kindness leads you to repentance (Romans 2:4) and be an evidence to them that the Hero of the old age is the same Hero of our day. He will never stop chasing those He loved—not because His love is like a vehicle but because there is no word that can explain how He loved us and this love is a proof that we are already there in the vehicle already chased by His love.
Jesus always reminds us by the story of the prodigal son, on Luke 15:11-24. The younger of the two son of a man who can’t wait on his inheritance asked his father share of estate and after he received all of them he set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living (v. 12-13). After he had spent everything, a severe famine stroke the country and he began to be in need. He lost everything that his father gave him. He hired himself out to a citizen who sent him to his fields to feed pigs (v. 15). Imagine how pity this person longing to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating (v.16). Somehow this picture will give us a view of what the consequences of sins look like. Disgusting isn’t it? That sin will tell us to enjoy the decorated front view of the horrible and ghastly room lying inside that house. But the story doesn’t end up here. The younger son realized the richness of his father and decided to go back as a slave and not a son (v.18-19). The guilt and shame and condemnation bonded him. But the next verses will give as a feeling of a mountain top experience as we read it slowly. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him: he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. The son said to him, ‘Father I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called you son.’ But the father said no word to him but to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For his son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. (v. 20-24).
Everyone stumbles and falls but the main story is not about the accumulated sins we made, but the love and forgiveness of the Father who accepts His children—who sinned—and forgives them fully. His forgiveness is always there knocking on the doors of your heart. Hear the sound of the gentle knocks which are resisting to capture you again and place you to the bottom of His dwelling love. Yes, He will hug you the same hug he hugged you before. He will look at you as a son and not a slave no matter what you did. Open you spiritual eyes and see the richness of His love and forgiveness. He is the same yesterday, today and forever and His grace and mercies are new every morning (Lamentation 3:23)
Reminisce the things on how you came to know God so that is can restore the joy that you felt in His love, and I pray that one by one that His love silences questions. His love accepts those who are rejected, His love carries the weight of our sins, His love vanishes shame, His love absolves those who are bombarded with condemnation, His love cleans the mess, His love purifies those who are contaminated, His love covers sin, His love erases guilt. Lastly, love is Jesus Christ. He paid the penalty of our sins—past, present and the future.
