LONG POST, I KNOW, BUT I THINK IT'S WORTH THE READ lol So I struggled with posting this because I didn't want to seem to be bragging on myself, but it's not so bad if I'm bragging on God 😁 So I just finished a project where we had to generate an image of our choice with code. For me, I feel like one of the hardest things that comes with projects like these is figuring out what you want to draw, but I knew I wanted to do something with sun either rising or setting. Eventually, I decided on going with the sun rising. I had thoughts on incorporating something spiritual in it because I feel like I should be doing that more in all my work, so I felt led to represent it with Jesus' resurrection because like sun rising, Son rising. As I worked on it this weekend at Ascend, in one of the sets, one of the girls was talking about how we can depend on the sun to rise everyday, promising to bring an end to the night, that we need to let Jesus be our sunrise. At the sound of those words my heart filled with joy of the confirmation and reminder that He speaks and I can hear him. That He reveals Himself in what can seem to be the most insignificant of ways to show He cares about littlest things and that He's everywhere and in everything, and that in the middle of the night I know He's still there and just waiting to show His glory. Reminded how the moon reflects the sun in the night and how the sun's light reveals the moon's beauty, I'll seek and see Your reflection in my darkest of nights and find that You still see me. That You're right there with me. You're always with me! Good morning, Jesus! When I was looking this up, I was looking at the different versions' phrasing. One of them said "lonely places" while a lot of them said "wilderness", and it got me wondering--what's so special about the wilderness? As I walked and prayed about it, I started to think what's the difference between a lonely place and the wilderness and it occurred to me that if you're in the wilderness, you're usually on your own and not just away from people, but also from things of comfort which helps you focus on God. The biggest part of this that came to me though was the thought that, in the wilderness, you're in a place that's close to God's pure creation where the wildlife is doing exactly what God created them to do and everything lives and survives off of his provisions and things that he set in motion. I feel like we should do this more often nowadays to really just focus on and listen to God, especially in the hectic times, and our "wilderness" I don't feel has to be exactly like this. For me, I feel it's the amphitheater (especially at night). It's just that place or that environment where you feel you can get close to God, without distractions, and just be with him and talk to him wholeheartedly. When you’re looking to light a fire, you don’t search for a wet blanket or damp wood and twigs - you search for items that are ready to be lit, you search for items that will aid in the ignition of the fire and fuel the sparks into a roaring flame. So why is it that when we feel God moving and stirring, and we hear God speaking, that we decide to listen to the sticks in the mud? Why do we employ the opinions of the wet blankets, and allow ourselves to be held back by those who are closed off to change, transformation and release? When The Holy Spirit is leading us to embrace new, challenging mountains where we live by faith and not by sight, why are we not running with arms high and hearts abandoned in the direction of His will? Instead of trusting the maker of the universe, we look to the opinions, thoughts and views of man. We excuse our reliability on humanistic approaches over spiritual advances by calling it ‘wisdom’ when it’s nothing more than insecurity and fear. God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and self discipline; a spirit that is unashamed and empowered by the gospel. (2 Tim 1:6-7). God did not set you free to live your life seeking the approval and the directions of man, He did not captivate, pursue and renew your heart so that you might rely on the opinions of those around you, no. He broke bondages, released shackles and freed you from the shame of your past. He anointed you with the sacrifice of Christ, offering you eternal life - He gave you a new sound and a new voice, so that you might live your life in wonder of His existence and unfailing love. It’s time to rise up as children of The Most High King. It’s time to roar like the lions and lionesses that we are. It’s time to forget about what WE have decided people must want, and to start whole heartedly chasing after what GOD KNOWS people need. You are fierce, you are mighty, you are an ambassador, a forger and a carrier of His flame. The time to awaken from our slumber and usher in His presence is now. Since we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood; it is time to arrest our cities and nations, and be the bold and fearless men and women we are called to be for His glory.
