GONNA RELAX AND RENEW
Alright guys, I need some help.
This is my sweet baby girl, Della. She’s not the most well-mannered dog—she has an insatiable appetite for human food, she’s convinced that even 80lb dogs can be lap dogs, and she has the absolute worst gas imaginable all the time—but she loves every single person she meets, no hesitation. There have been days that I come home, emotionally drained and exhausted, and Della somehow knows that all I need is a giant ball of love to sit directly on top of me and give me kisses until everything is okay again. Her unwavering desire to love and be loved and her impressive cuddling talents have gotten me through countless rough nights.
When Della’s veterinarian recently gave us the heart-breaking news that she has Stage 3 Lymphoma (you can read about it here: http://www.vet.purdue.edu/pcop/canine-lymphoma-research.php), we knew we couldn’t let such a kind soul be extinguished in such an awful way. The decision was made to begin treatment immediately, and Della was put on Prednisone, a steroid intended to reduce inflammation and improve her overall quality of life as the cancer progresses. Starting on February 9th, she will also begin weekly chemotherapy. The results of treatment are not so bad—an upwards of 75% of dogs respond positively to chemo and will go into partial or complete remission.
The downside to all of this, however, is the money needed to fund her treatment, which will cost an estimated $4,000 (x-rays, medications, biopsies, etc.). My family isn’t in the best financial situation, and we are doing whatever it takes to make sure sweet Della can fight her cancer, but the vet bills are staggering.
We’ve set up a GoFundMe to lighten the burden just a little. Even if you have nothing to give, please reblog this so that Della has a better chance. If all you can donate is a single dollar, we will still be infinitely appreciative. I love this dog more than I have the words to explain, and if you find it in your hearts to help us, I can never thank you enough.
