Valon looked down at her, putting his hands back into his pockets. "I suppose so.."

Alister raised his hands in mock defeat. “Forgive me for being the only one with enough of a mind to think ahead.” he commented, dropping his hands and shoving them into his pockets. “I’m looking out for our future, Val.” he said in a mocking tone.

Valon rolled his eyes again. "I care about what I'm supposed to be doing now, not what might happen later," he stated. "You can look out for your own future; don't worry about mine."

“Well,” Alister began smoothly as he fixed Valon with a look, “seeing as how Wheeler is one of the three duelists who are able to awaken one of the three legendary Dragons, I’d have assumed he would have been rather HIGH on Dartz’s ‘to do’ list.”

Valon narrowed his eyes. "You haven't really been around to know who Dartz has on his 'to do' list, now, have you?"  he replied coolly. "The only person Dartz has cared about recently is Atem."

Smirking slightly, Alister crossed his arms over his chest. “You couldn’t see the point because you were too busy lusting after little miss loudmouth Mai.” the red head retorted, sounding quite pleased with himself.

Valon snorted. "Please. My 'lusting after Mai,' as you put it, had nothing to do with it." He slid his hands into his pockets and shrugged. "I didn't see the point in chasing someone who Dartz honestly doesn't give a shit about."

Didn't expect to see you, Valon. So how's your little hunt for that Wheeler kid going? Worthless little twit, I'm surprised you're having such a hard time.

Valon rolled his eyes. "I'm simply overjoyed that you finally decided to show up. Exactly what I was hoping for," he muttered, sarcasm evident in his tone. "I gave up searching for Wheeler quite a while ago; didn't see the point anymore."

[Kotori blinks, still grinning and speaks excitedly.] Is that a little smile I spot on your face, Valon? 

[She laughs and goes up to her tippy toes to pull on his cheeks playfully.] Smile moreee! It’s the best thing you can wear you know!

Valon snorted, unable to stop his smile from widening. "If you say so, Kotori."

He leaned a little closer to her and ruffled her hair. "Give me something to smile about, and maybe I will."

I did some things she didn't agree with; she doesn't like me because of it. [He shrugged.] No big deal.

[She shakes her head with a smile.] Not really! I mean, I met Tea the other day, that was exciting. You know her too, right?

[Valon nodded slowly. He couldn't help but wonder how meeting Tea would be exciting at all.] Yeah...I wouldn't consider us "friends" or anything, but I know her.

I said that you shouldn't suspect things of people, not that you were accusing me. [He moved his gaze back to her and and sighed.] I'm not even sure why you feel the need to "keep an eye on me." I haven't done anything that would even be considered bad in a while.

[His eyes narrowed.] You really shouldn't suspect things of people because of their past mistakes. People change.

You should try it. It's pretty liberating. I think everyone does it at least once in their life. I'll lend you my bra~
