Summer Strike // Ep 1 - 6 Thoughts
Lately I’ve been feeling like there’s no new interesting dramas but I realized it’s just because I haven’t been giving them a chance. I kept seeing posts about this drama on twitter calling it a healing drama which piqued my interest. I didn’t know much about the plot going into it but I was expecting a drama like APOYM or Little Forest. It was definitely not what I expected! If I had to compare it, I’d say it’s more similar to When a Camelia Blooms, but really, it’s unique in itself.
The first episode was hard and I cried with Yeoreom when she opened the package from her mom. Then when she quit her job and stuck it to her supervisor, I was ready for some full on healing! But when I got to episode 3, it was becoming more and more frustrating to watch because of the dislikeable characters. I felt like twitter tricked me into thinking it would be a simple slice of life drama, but it actually dealt with some heavy subject matter and of course there was also a suspense/mystery element added to it. I’m not complaining though, because I think it makes the drama much more layered.
Some thoughts in no order and in point form bc I don’t want to be coherent anymore:
- the dog is so cute and it warmed my heart that yeoreom was going to do anything
- dae beom practicing what he was going to say and then saying it entirely wrong was so relatable
- yeoreom and bom’s relationship development warms my heart so much. I just love their bond so much!!!
- not on board with the grandma and brother guilt tripping bom to not turn the dad in, although I can see where theyre coming from and i do believe that bom would be happier this way as it wouldnt weigh on her shoulders
- i think the drama wants us to think that the mean restaurant lady’s son might’ve killed dae beom’s sister? although i can’t rlly figure out his age from that short clip so idk if thats even possible
- so curious why dae beom turned in his dad—also, is his dad still alive but in jail??
- i was so so so hoping that jiyoung wouldnt have a thing for dae beom but it looks like she does—or is she just possessive/protective??
- this is my first seolhyun drama and I’m really liking her in it.
- im siwan’s hair in this drama is just glorious and im so jealous
- i cried the hardest when bom was describing how she used to love taking walks with her dad… that was so hard to get through and she better be happy by the end of the show or else im gonna throw hands at the writers
