How could they have met in 1987? Beck was in New York, and JMJ was working for Beck's father in Los Angeles. I guess they met after 'Loser,' as JMJ mentioned in an interview — where it sounds like Beck picked up a random guy on the street, and that guy happened to be JMJ. Or maybe Beck noticed JMJ at a live show or something like that. Perhaps Beck's father talked to Beck about JMJ idk. Still a beautiful story, though.
