Noche estrellada en el refugio [RayEmma fanfiction] [The Promised Neverland]

(Este fanfic está ambientado después de los sucesos de Goldy Pond y Emma despertara de su recuperación de la batalla de Lewis. Basado en los acontecimientos del manga del capítulo 96, cuando Emma despierta y en el capítulo 98, cuando cuentan que han estado tranquilos en el refugio, antes de la llegada de Andrew.)

 Era casi media noche. Ray estaba haciendo una última ronda para asegurarse de que todos estaban en la cama descansando. Incluso Yuugo y Lucas se habían ido a dormir, había sido un día duro de caza y todo el mundo estaba agotado. Estaba a punto de ir a la cama cuando oyó sonidos provenientes del cuarto de Emma.

“¿Uh? ¿Que hará despierta a estas horas?”

Con un candil en la mano, fue hasta el cuarto donde reposaba de sus heridas su amiga. La luz estaba encendida y la puerta entreabierta. Ray la empujó suavemente para ver qué pasaba dentro.

 - ¿¡EH!? ¿¡R-ray!? -  dijo sorprendida Emma.

- Emma, ¿qué haces levantada? ¡Deberías estar descansando! Hace solo una semana desde que te despertaste. Además, a estas horas…

- Ray…

 Emma estaba triste, aunque estuviera sonriendo. Acababa salir de la cama, tenía puesta ropa de salir y llevaba las muletas. Ray se dio cuenta de que algo no iba bien. Relajó su cuerpo y se acercó a su amiga.

 - ¿Qué ocurre? – preguntó.

- Quiero salir.

- ¿Salir? ¿Cómo que… salir?

- Si, quiero respirar aire del exterior. Quiero ver el horizonte. Quiero ver las estrellas.

 Ray se dio cuenta de que iba en serio, por lo que, con un resoplido, ayudó a Emma a cruzar el refugio haciendo el menor ruido posible y subiendo las escaleras de la entrada. Ray fue el primero en asomar la cabeza y con un vistazo rápido se aseguró que era viable salir. Una vez estuvo fuera su amiga, volvió a cerciorarse, esta vez, de manera más exacta, de que era seguro.

- Vale, todo tranquilo – dijo con un resoplido.

Vio que Emma se había tumbado en el suelo, cerca de la entrada. Miró una tercera vez que todo estuviera tranquilo y se sentó a su lado. Los dos se pusieron a contemplar el cielo estrellado.

 E: Ahhh… Necesitaba salir. El aire del refugio está bien, pero nada como estar bajo el cielo.

R: Es reconfortante en cierto modo.

E: ¿A que te refieres?

R: Fíjate. Las mismas estrellas que en Grace Field. Las mismas estrellas que en Goldy Pond. Y las mismas estrellas del refugio. Pero se sienten distintas. Aquí… Ahora mismo… Me siento feliz.

E: ¿No fuiste feliz en Grace Field?

R: Disfrutaba de los momentos que pasaba con Norman y contigo pero… Nunca he sido feliz de verdad. Siempre preocupado por sacar la máxima puntuación, por pensar cada detalle de un plan, por nuestros hermanos…

E: Ray…

R: Pero ahora, aunque la vida sea más difícil, estoy feliz. En cierta parte.

E: ¿No estas feliz de que pudiéramos escapar?

R: No todos pudimos.

E: Ya…

R: Cada noche al irme a dormir en el refugio lo pienso. Antes no era tan frecuente, pero desde que llegamos aquí… No puedo evitar pensar en qué habría hecho él en cada una de las situaciones que hemos vivido.

E: Yo también le echo mucho de menos. ¡Hubiera deseado ver cómo se habría tratado con el Señor Yuugo! ¿Te imaginas? Un Norman serio y aterrador jajaja.

R: Si. Y seguramente te hubiera seguido al terreno de caza de Goldy Pond aunque Yuugo se lo impidiese. ¡Apuesto a que hubiera hecho un plan mejor que el tuyo!

E: ¡Ehhh! Mi plan no fue tan malo…

R: CASI MUERES.

E: Pero por suerte, te tenía a ti y a todos mis amigos para ayudarme. No estaba sola.

E: Lo seeeee. La verdad, tenerte a mi lado me da fuerzas para seguir. Si no hubieras huido conmigo aquella noche en el orfanato, no se si hubiera sido capaz de guiar a todos nuestros hermanos.

R: Por supuesto. Nunca pensé que llegaría a conocer a alguien tan increíble que hace cosas extraordinarias.

R: Eres increíble a la par de inconsciente Emma.

E: Y tu terco a la par de adorable, Ray. Me hace mucha gracia esa expresión tuya.

R: ¿Cual expresión?

E: Cuando estás triste, en vez de llorar, te enfadas. Frunces el ceño de una forma muy peculiar, intentando no mostrarte sensible. Aunque ahora me hayas gritado que casi muero, se que en el fondo quieres llorar.

R: Pufff...

E: Te conozco muy bien, ¿verdad?

R: La verdad es que... sí.

 Emma, que estaba tumbada en el suelo miró a Ray, quién estaba sentado mirando las estrellas. No podía estar segura, pero le pareció ver correr una lágrima por sus mejillas.

- Oye Ray… - dijo con una voz muy suave. – ¿Te tumbarías a mi lado? Quiero ver el cielo a tu lado.

- Mmmmm… - Ray dudó. La miró y, como Emma había pensado, se le escapó una lágrima. Tenía los ojos vidriosos. – Será mejor que volvamos al refugio.

- ¿Tan pronto? – Emma se veía claramente desilusionada.

 A Emma se le iluminó la cara. Asintió enérgicamente y entraron juntos de nuevo al refugio. Llegaron a la habitación de Emma y juntos se metieron en la cama. Estuvieron contándose historias, recordando anécdotas, riendo y disfrutando de la compañía del otro.

A Ray le pilló desprevenido ese corte.
