ARTIST STATEMENT: Women’s beauty is inspiring, and I enjoy trying to capture different faces, and there’s so many beautiful portraits to paint. The beauty and fashion industry is quite fascinating by its craziness and codes. But through social media across the world other kind of beauty is emerging. My paintings starts with watercolours on paper and I’m pushing to the edge this technique. To experiment with the pigment and to see how I can have bold colours with this medium. Todd Romanowycz has a unique style of painting with acrylic on acrylic sheets (Perspex). The clean and sharp finish has a graphic quality and the works have a retro feel, often incorporating nostalgic elements such as old cars and bikes. Amanda Karlsson - ‘Portals’ Part of our upcoming Group Exhibition - Threesome. ARTIST STATEMENT: With this particular painting I wanted to introduce the concept of travelling trough portals. Specifically between our internal and external reality . How a Self could have many options and neither of them is the right one nor the wrong one. They just are what they are. Portals and options that will change your narrative. Got thinking about this because of the theme involving three and that of course correlates with the used phrase as three as the magic number. So I decided to stay in that uncomfortable part of choosing between three options and quickly came to the conclusion that neither of them is magic however they are.
