Showtime has released the official trailer for Why Horror?, a documentary that follows genre fan Tal Zimerman as he looks at the psychology of horror around the world in order to understand why we love to be scared.

It features input from filmmakers John Carpenter (Halloween), George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead), Eli Roth (Hostel), Don Coscarelli (Phantasm), Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes) and David Hackl (Saw V), among others.

Directed by Rob Lindsay and Nicolas Kleiman, Why Horror? will air on Showtime on Friday, October 30. Read on for the extended synopsis.
