JUST HESITATION II

I felt the rare impulse to remake an old drawing. The original is from September 30, 2018 ↓

The words are from "The Island" by Pendulum, which was sampled in "JUST HESITATION" by The Quick Brown Fox. In the time between the old one and the new one, I've grown to enjoy the original sample.

Here are "I" and "J."

Let's get to know them:

Iliya (top left): She is a golden cocker retriever who works as a fashion stylist. She also writes and does photography, though most of what she writes are fashion articles. She likes to be busy. She is Nori's closest friend and Bande's good friend. She was wary of Hertz at first, but quickly grew fond of her.

Indigo (top right): She is the older sister of Bianco and Dust. She's currently attending college so we won't be seeing her very often.

Jade (bottom left): Emerald's snooty little daughter. She is the resident mean girl because every class needs one. She doesn't ever get in trouble for her snobby behavior because her mother is on the PTA. She dislikes Hertz and wants to break her down to fit into an acceptable mold.

Jolt (bottom right): He is the protagonist of a different story I was working on in 2021. The character himself is actually one of my very first OCs I made in 2013. He is an electric fox, so he can control electricity. He lives in an ancient sky temple up in Heaven with his mentor (that makes it sound like he is dead but "heaven" in my lore is not the same as heaven in religion.) He wants to live up to his ancestor's legacy, and he ends up meeting some friends while going on a journey to achieve that.

hey hey terra maybe you've gotten asked this before but what has inspired your art style? anything that has influenced how your art looks? don't know how to word that question.

I think it all goes back to Looney Tunes and classic Megaman. Old school cartoons and Japanese video games (which often took inspiration from the former.)

Squeedgemonster also had a huge influence on how I draw my line art. Going back to video games for a moment, NES graphics are very inspirational to me too, but it's less for the pixel art and more for the limited color palettes.

For my more "geometric" style, it just came about from drawing Psychonauts stuff all the time, so I guess that too? Lol

Now here are the H's since there are (currently) no G's. We're making it through alright.

Let's get to know them:

Harvey (top left): His appearance may trick you, but he is not actually magic. He is a psychic and his "magic tricks" are merely telekinesis and psychic illusions. He is a performer just as his parents were, and their parents, and so on.

Hecate (top right): She used to be more playful, but now she's just aggressive. She doesn't even talk. She just growls. Catching her off guard is a great way to lose a limb. She is always seen with Capsaicin. She does not like nor hate him. They merely coexist. They live in a mountain cave together far away from civilization.

Hertz (bottom left): She was born in the sludge pits of hell, but her batch had a lot of duds. She and the other duds were set to be destroyed on a certain date. Hertz escaped hell just six days after being born, but it wasn't easy. She managed to evade many of the guardian hellhounds, but a horrid hellbeast got her and severely injured her. With a hell of a lot of luck, she got through the gateway but collapsed due to her injuries. Fortunately, Nori happened to be in the right place at the right time and she brought the little hellbat home. Nori healed her injuries and the two quickly became close. Thus begins Hertz's exciting new life on the surface.

Hjälp (bottom right): It is a severely corrupted digital creature. It was originally a character in a digital pet game, but a virus infected the computer before the game could be finished. They struggle to remain stable and cannot hold themselves together for very long. As a result, its appearance can vary wildly. They can only feel sadness and fear, and can only communicate through discordant 8-bit screams (think Missingno's cry from Pokemon Yellow.) However, due to being trapped in a trashed computer, no one ever hears them.

My sister told me to draw characters from Don't Starve. I used references, but I had to keep switching tabs so there's an element of them being partially done by memory. It makes it fun. These are from a week ago.

Let's get to know them:

Fallon (left): Fallon is Caprio's mother. Back before she was a mom, she was a crazy party girl. She discovered rave while studying abroad in college. She would dye her fur cyan and paint her hooves and horns blue, but these days she wears her fur color naturally and keeps a little cyan streak in her hair as a memento. She's generally relaxed and carefree, but can be a bit impulsive at times. Her husband, Ricot, who she met while studying abroad, tends to keep her balanced. She loves her family dearly. She's also one of the few characters I have with a full DOB (July 5, 1978. In the 'canon' she is currently 35.)

Forte (right): Her full name is "Fortissimo" but that's a mouthful, so everyone calls her "Forte." She is Anjila's good friend and associate. She created an interdimensional teleporter for Anjila to use. In a world of dying magic, she spends much of her time trying to recreate magic scientifically. So far, her only breakthrough is the interdimensional teleporter. The money Anjila earns from recovering rare otherworldly artifacts helps fund Forte's research. She tends to be reclusive, so Anjila handles public affairs. She also finds Anjila a bit attractive, but she would never act on her feelings because she wants to keep their business relationship professional.

Happy birthday to Rotteen (May 22) and 2D (May 23)

They were both born in 1978, so Rotteen is precisely one day older than him. They look good for 48, right? Must be cartoon genes.

Let's get to know them:

Ellixe (top left): She's a dragon from another world searching for rare magic crystals in Hertz's world. She was always an outcast and can't quite cope when she accidentally kills her only friend. She's powerful, but not strong enough to revive someone. The crystals will help her fix everything. Hertz becomes integral in her plans since one of the crystals is hidden in hell. What better way to deal with your problems than to manipulate a child and dump all your baggage onto her? Why does it matter so long as you get what you want?

Ember (top right): She's a monster of some sort. Possibly undead since she doesn't have a neck and her head just floats. She can use magic and cast spells, but she still has a lot to learn. She may or may not be Ellixe from an alternate dimension.

Emerald (bottom left): She is Jade's mother and the wife of a successful businessman (his name is Sylco but I'm not drawing him since he's so minor.) She was a clique-y mean girl in high school who never quite matured past that. These days, she's your typical pushy mom on the PTA scrabbling for an ounce of control in her life since her husband is most definitely cheating on her while going on so many "business trips." At some point she truly did want to help out the schools, but now it's just a power trip. Such is life. She's a pronghorn, but I originally wanted to make her a gazelle.

Esperaunce (bottom right): No one's ever really seen him before. He's a dragon-like "dream creature" who hops around endlessly from dream to dream. He's around the same size as a house cat when on all-fours (maybe a little bigger), but can also shrink to the size of a rat. He does not noticably impact the dreams he enters. He's just a little fella, I'd say.
