Someone needs a new driveway

Yes, they're hovering over piles of trash, but I've heard horror stories about how shrimp are dried in Thailand so the fact that they're on a raised platform seems like a big improvement.

I visited a number of schools in Cambodia this week but this last one had a VIEW. It's on the Gulf of Thailand (not too far on the map from Koh Kood) and is only accessible by boat when the tide is high. Most families around here fish, and teachers and students sometimes catch crabs during lunch to sell at the market after school.

Spent a lot of time on the road this week chatting with others about climate change and how it affects the fishing industry...thinking about my massive carbon footprint from all this traveling and what I can do to lessen it when I move back...and learning about carbon offsets, the disappearing Amazon rainforest, and whether or not recycling is worthwhile (thanks NPR). I've gotten as far as: buy a prius, join a local meat share, and plant a few trees, hah. Suggestions welcome.

Drove through my interpreter's hometown today and he asked me if I wanted to try a fried spider. These ones are extra delicious because they come with eggs. (at Skun Town)
