Here are my idea sketches from class.
"Imagine walking through a door, and into a giant rainforest. Trees towering over you, the lighting is realistic, exotic Australian birds fly above your head. You can smell the fresh rain, hear the birds singing, a distant waterfall roaring, and feel a tropical breeze. And then Imagine: you can interact with everything; the walls and the floor! The plants move when you touch them…the frogs jump when you get close…you can touch animals, jump on mushrooms and draw into the soil. You leave temporary footprints in the virtual soil beneath you."
Here is my Case Study poster on International Airports.
I decided to explore concepts that are quite diverse, and are all unique to the airport. Its great to be able to study a wide range of innovations and not confining my imagination so that when I explore ideas for my final design I will have a wider range of ideas.
KIP412 visiting the CUBE
It was a great tour!!!
I welcome Zoe, Rj and Sarah to our new team, where we will be focusing on designing and creating a new and innovative way to build a memorable and exciting image of QLD through the Brisbane International Airport.
Week 1-
Poster 1- Here is our first brainstorm where we cover a broad range if ideas of just how we can begin our project....
Poster 2- Trying to understand the pipeline of the Airport and where our installation could potentially have the greatest effect.
Creating a profile is proving very difficult. I tried to find a unique profile, although after all this image sourcing, I think I have created my ideal guy :/
Casual...well dressed...a passionate artist...Foreign...hrm...not to much drama's for him at the airport. Lets try a contrasting profile.
Isn’t this a farmilliar scene we see in Pixar’s The Increadibles (2004).
What looked like the future at the time…now becomes reality!
Londons Heathrow Airport installed these ‘futuristic’ pods as a new means of fast and innovative transport between terminals! Each pod holds four passengers and quietly and quickly roll along the 2.4 mile stretch of elevated track, winding through the maze of terminals and roadways.
“This innovative system forms part of BAA’s plan to transform Heathrow, improve the passenger experience and reduce the environmental impact of our operation through the development of cutting edge, green transport solutions. It offers a completely new form of public transport – one that will deliver a fast, efficient service to passengers and bring considerable environmental benefits, saving more than half of the fuel used by existing forms of public or private transport,” says David Holdcroft, BAA ULTra Heathrow Terminal 5 Project Manager.

This is a poster of the - Contextual Analysis - of Brisbane International Airport. I chose to expand on a few of the main issues that I observed on our field trip. How people interact with certain interface and objects, as well as the emotions they may be feeling when at the airport.

From flight to customs, make it easier for passengers to claim their luggage contents when travelling to Australia.
This was one of the airports problems, what a great solution!!
So today I was distracted in a lab..by this guy....I couldn't help but notice his amazing eyes... one was dark brown, and the other was light blue!...so I secretly drew him...(I hope no one recognizes him...)
And so while I was sketching...I was thinking about the future...and how drawing may or will be implemented into technology. We already have the Wacom Inkling- (which is a device that you clip onto a piece or paper, and sketch on that, then transfer your sketch onto a computer) and for the present, it is amazing technology that pushes the boundaries of traditional drawing.

But technology is constantly upgrading...and its hard to keep up with. Who knows, within 10 years there may be some crazy new technology for drawing that allows you to draw images in your mind and watch as they transfer onto paper.... oh wait...I think that's already under process!!

Digital tattooing?
There are implants which are purely aesthetic, and then there's the Digital Tattoo Interface concept. It's a blood-powered electronic interface which is embedded under skin to mimic a tattoo, display videos, or act as a phone or computer.
-What a great idea! (that is, if you can get past the face that it powers itself by converting the glucose and oxygen found in blood into electricity...)
maybe oneday...what seems obsurd how will become a trend in the future...

After ‘Design Fiction’ was brought to my attention in first class of KIP412, I couldn’t help but take deep interest and awareness in what would be the ‘latest’ interpretation of interactive interface design in the world of film. Multiple one sided ellipse discs that act as screens, generated by a small spinning disc that hovers on a surface, and are completely haptic- (yes the idea haptic holograms have been done already, and perhaps very similar to these), but their interface design is quite fresh. This interface design enables speed and freedom, space efficiency and portability to the user, it is very appealing!
Cloud Atlas… An absolutely incredible film!
Their $102 Million budget has definitely not been wasted!
The supposedly “un-filmable” novel my David Mitchell was in my opinion a huge success!
The intricacy of each narrative, differing between 6 different plots that wove throughout a historical maze spanning over 500 years was quite difficult to piece together…however, it compensated for marvelous visuals and captivatingly fast pace action. But the most amazing aspect of this film to me was not the graphics, or the mind boggling twists and connections, but the diversity in the ‘geniusly’ selected cast.
The fact that each member played multiple characters, all ranging from different time eras and contrasting archetypes was incredible…so well done. This film blows my impression of make-up artists to a whole new level!
-- check out this chart I stumbled across. It shows the intricacy of characters and cast. However, I am a little disappointed that whoever created this chart left out Chinese actress Zhou Xun. She was amazing!!
