Types of People : Ghosts
** Tree ghosts** Gentle raspy voices, sinking into thick moss after walking for hours, perseverance in the face of adversity built over years, smiles when sad, the stillness of the deep woods at dusk, being so quiet that you won’t ever be noticed, repressing your emotions and memories until they are nothing, annihilation, the smell of decaying leaves, long spindly shadows, what remains after a fire, overwhelmed by people and wants the safety of silence
** Urban legend ghosts ** Strong sense of justice, pressing your hand against cold concrete, fighting against the world hoping to finally be noticed by someone or something, the one that just fades away from home without any one realizing they are gone, crying in desperation at 3 am in the laundry room, empty hallways after everyone has left, seems kind at first but is deeply bitter and jealous, bruised knuckles, out of place in a place you once knew, newspaper clippings from 10 years ago, lures people in and traps them
**Possessed doll ghosts ** Standing in pouring rain, soft smiles and giggles, remaining childlike far longer than you should have because you feared growing up, pinkie promises, tattered ribbons, watching the things you love slowly become corrupted and broken, always holding onto hope and optimism, unraveling stuffed animals, worrying that everyone is moving on and leaving you behind, very loving but also very resentful of those who do not love them in return, rusty swing sets and abandoned amusement parks
** Graveyard ghosts ** Humming bones, so many stories locked within, black draped clothing obscures their body, watching life from a distance but feeling so separate from everyone else, dappled red sunlight in the evening, rotten flowers, has accepted that everyone forgets them eventually, wry smiles and sharp eyes, was once lonely but has developed their identity around being alone, dwells in the past, overgrown fields of wild flowers and weeds and old graves
** University library ghosts ** Only seen at night, vending machine coffee, lost in the crowd, collects books and articles because without knowledge they will disappear, built their entire identity around being intelligent and at some point it broke them, halogen light bulbs that hum slightly, dusty basement archives, introverted to a point where they completely avoid social interaction, deep purple bags under puffy eyes, self-worth is deeply dependent on grades, empty rooms full of outdated computers that no one uses anymore

WINTERTIME GOTHIC AESTHETICS
Midwest Detective: files of black and white newspaper clippings, long beige trench coats, lace curtains in cobwebbed attics, 1950s love songs through a.m. radio static, piebald deer, ominous billboards against a flat grey horizon, leather messenger bags and cups of black coffee, headlights through blizzards, hatchets propped against stacks of hickory wood, abandoned factories, the scent of ink, blood on snow.
University Vampire: White button-down shirts, the scent of ancient books in drafty tomb-like library stacks, wrought iron candelabras dripping wax, gaunt portraits of Renaissance noblemen in folds of red fabric, steaming chalices of mulled wine, garlands of dried oranges, vitrolas playing classical symphonies, ravens perched on the snowy sills of arched windows, black peacoats, gold astrolabes, blood on parchment.
Lighthouse-Keeper’s Ghost: heavy grey wool sweaters, fossilized trilobites and ammonites, splintering sheets of silver ice on inky black water, St. Elmo’s Fire, dusty sea glass bottles, fractal patterns of frost on window panes, boxes of matches and magazine clippings, curling tentacles and faded tattoos, dissonant player piano tunes, the smell of juniper, eerie yellow-green light through heavy fogs, circles of salt, blood on water.
Village Werewolf: brown cobblestone cottages capped with snow, clawmarks through sycamore bark, baskets of yarn and knitted smoky grey cloaks, ram’s skulls mounted stable walls, straw dolls and fingerless gloves, clouds of hot breath hanging in freezing air, tapestries of black-haired beasts accented with crimson embroidery, gas lanterns, chanted children’s rhymes, the scent of fir trees and rich soil, blood on wool.

LATE -SUMMER GOTHIC AESTHETICS vibes for the loamy waning of this bright season
Roadtrip Burnout: Bloodshot eyes, flickering neon motel signs, aviator sunglasses, magic 8 balls, recurrent dreams of grey aliens, beaded curtains, dusty denim and incense smoke, sepia desert vistas, playlists of 1960s rock songs, coded messages in television static, comets in the night sky, fake IDs, gas station snacks, Jesus bobble heads, split lips, patchouli, paranoia between friends.
Southern Cemetery: Magnolia blossoms, chipping white porch swings, Spanish moss, suffocating humidity, faded photographs of lacy weddings, tire tracks in mud, mausoleum angels, family trees, the yellow-green eyes of alligators, repressed childhood memories bubbling to the surface, broken porcelain dolls, legs covered with mosquito bites, blood promises, crucifixes and barbed wire.
Interdimensional Park Ranger: The yellow eyeshine of an unseen animal, circling turkey vultures, unnatural fluctuations in the passage of time, daddy long legs in rotting logs, distorted backwards speech through a walkie-talkie, unexplainable antler shrines, coniferous mountain horizons, star-like bonfire sparks whirling in an indigo night, nests of infant barn owls, claw marks in tent fabric.
Haunted Boardwalk: Rickety Ferris wheels, carnival lights through fog, saltwater taffy and tarot card readings, childhood best-friends, thunderstorms over the sea, tear-streaked face paint, chipping animatronics partially submerged in brackish water, ill-fated games of truth or dare, vintage circus posters boasting mermaids and wolfmen, underwater caves marked with a skulls and crossbones.
