6 months ago I sold my apartment in the city and bought an old A frame cabin in the woods. It had no water or electricity and was in desperate need of attention.

Lazy morning walks ... Too much coffee and lounging was getting tiresome and the only cure seemed to be a walk over the frozen lake to the creepy little Tim Burton cabin on the other side.

Winter is here and the new insulation seems to be holding up against the cold...The whole cabin is heated up with one small oil/electric stove.

Living room sofa in the making.. I salvaged a lot of wood from the previous owner and after a bunch of sanding it was put to good use.

The cabin and the small piece of land it stands on was littered with relics from the previous owner...some of it was put to good use and the rest required numerous trips to the dumps.

One of the things I appreciate most about waking up in my new home is the view from the bedroom window...No houses, no looking into a neighbors living room, just a clear view over the lake.

The A frame was built in the 70's and the original insulation was barely enough for an Icelandic summer. The sleeping loft had original mdf panels who where starting to show after years of winter/summer temperature changes and moisture. The first thing I did was tearing everything from the inside of the cabin, put in new thicker insulation, ployethylene vapor barrier and new wood panels...should be enough keep the cabin warm throughout the cold Icelandic winter.
