Personally, I think WE should stop saying you have no media literacy to everyone who has a different reading of a show. That’s not what that means. Media literacy is the ability to analyse the themes and narrative of something and come to your own conclusion. You can still understand and recognise the themes of the show, and have a different interpretation of the characters and plot. It doesn’t mean that person lacks intellect or didn’t understand something. It’s the shows responsibility to curb and clarify the meaning(s) of the product they are making, and if it doesn’t do that effectively or is open ended, surprise, people are going to read into it differently!

Funny story btw at 8th grade In social studies class, I argued with the teacher because she believed that the word русский/russian could be used to refer to all people in the country in the context both nationality and citizenship but we have a world for it — россиянин (also translates as russian) but for some reason she didn't want to accept this opinion ??? And she literally said "But you are all Russian here!" and I just look at my ex who's a Volga German and I'm (half) tatar and I had a friend two grades older who's also Volga German :D like no ma'am we're NOT russian we are citizens sorry not sorry or you also gonna call Yakuts or Caucasians Russian??? Multinational country, damn it...

and yes I live in Russia but I'm not russian I mean my nationality I'm half-tatar half...slavic? (my father is tatar and my mom is Russian or Ukrainian perhaps she even has Moldovan roots I still don't know but my grandma said she (grandma) spoke only Ukrainian language until 14 and grandpa's surname is has Ukrainian or Moldovan origin but their ussr passports say they are russian I'm so confused..)

My dad's mom my grandma wanted to teach me tatar language but it didn't happen so irl I speak only russian but plan to learn tatar language myself
